1) Cholesterol Levels

It would be best if you got your cholesterol levels checked at least once every five years, starting at age 20. high cholesterol can lead to heart disease, stroke, and other health problems. If your cholesterol is high, your doctor may prescribe medication to help lower it.

There are two types of cholesterol: LDL and HDL. LDL is the “bad” type of cholesterol that can build up on the walls of your arteries and cause blockages. HDL is the “good” type of cholesterol that helps remove LDL from your arteries. You want to have a higher level of HDL and a lower level of LDL. A simple cholesterol test can check your cholesterol levels and tell you everything you need to know.

2) Blood Pressure

Your blood pressure should be checked at least once every two years, starting at age 18. High blood pressure can lead to heart disease and stroke. If your blood pressure is high, your doctor may prescribe medication to help lower it. In addition, you can check your blood pressure at home with a digital blood pressure monitor or at your doctor’s office.

Normal blood pressure is less than 120/80 mmHg. If your systolic (top number) is between 120 and 129, and your diastolic (bottom number) is less than 80, you have prehypertension. This means that you are more likely to develop high blood pressure in the future and should take steps to prevent it. If your systolic blood pressure is 130 or higher, or your diastolic blood pressure is 80 or higher, you have hypertension. This means that you need treatment to lower your blood pressure.

3) Hearing health

Hearing loss is a common problem, especially as you age. If you have trouble hearing, make an appointment with an audiologist to get your hearing tested. Hearing aids can help if you have hearing loss. There are many different types of hearing aids available, so be sure to talk to your audiologist about which one would be best for you. You can also take steps to prevent hearing loss. For example, avoid loud noise whenever possible, and wear earplugs or other hearing protection if you must be exposed to loud noise.

4) Mental health

It’s essential to pay attention to your mental health, just as you would your physical health. If you are feeling down, anxious, or stressed, make an appointment to see a therapist or counselor. Talking to someone can help you figure out how to deal with whatever is causing you distress. There are many different types of therapy available, so be sure to find a therapist that you feel comfortable with. You may also want to try relaxation techniques such as yoga or meditation.

5) Preventative Check-Ups

If you take a proactive approach to your health, it means you won’t have to wait for symptoms to become disruptive before seeking help. With routine specialist check-ups, you can spot issues early and get reassurance. Things like access to Private Gynaecology services can be an important part of this preventative approach. If you have concerns that require a proper assessment or ongoing monitoring, this is especially the case. You will be able to address sensitive health issues sooner rather than later.

These are just five of the things you need to keep an eye on for overall health and wellbeing. By paying attention to these four aspects of your health, you’ll have peace of mind knowing your health is in optimal condition.
