Remembering all the dates and details for your family’s commitments, appointments, playdates and schedules can be hard work. There’s always something new to remember which is why I love to write everything down. When asked to remember a really important piece of information, I am useless. My brain cannot cope under pressure. I am a pen and paper girl, I love stationery and use it every single day to keep me and my family organised. Boxclever Press recently asked me to take a look at their Family Life Book complete with faux leather cover and I love it!

Boxclever Press have recently launched their 2020 range of stationery and its fantastic. I am a huge planner fan so was keen to take a look at their Family Life Book. It’s a book that is designed to keep all the family organised with plenty of useful features. The A5 hard-backed planner runs from August 2019 until December 2020 which allows you to get organised and spans the whole of the new year. Meaning you’ll already be in good habits with your planner come the new year!

Luxury faux leather cover

Upon opening the faux leather cover, which is zipped so you can zip up your planner and keep everything organised and away from prying little hands, is the hard backed planner, a small envelope pocket for paper clips or an emergency stamp, a larger open sided pocket ideal for storing receipts, photographs or business cards and a pen loop. Inside the back cover, there’s slots for business cards and keeping important things flat. The cover on my planner is Marlin Blue in colour but there are a range of colours available.

What’s included?

Inside the cover, there’s some fantastic features that all add to the excitement of planning. There’s an Addresses and Contacts booklet which can be tucked inside the front pocket or hidden away at the back of the planner. There’s also two sheets of stickers which have 288 colourful stickers for highlighting a range of important dates and events. The stickers include ‘Schools Out’, ‘Doctor’, ‘Library’ and ‘Day Out’ to name just a few. I love these stickers, they’re so useful and really do make events stand out on the page.

There’s also a clear panel dashboard which can be easily moved throughout the planner. This can be written on with a dry wipe marker (not supplied) for notes, inspirational quotes or used as a handy bookmark.

Inside the Family Life Book

The Family Life Book is a one-stop shop of getting the family organised and keeping them organised month after month. The 16 month organiser has all the usual elements you’d expect it to have; a page for Personal Information, Useful Numbers, 2019 and 2020 dates at a glance and 6 pages of weekly routines with 7 columns.

The main diary layout is columnised with a flexible grid style. The week-to-view layout has 7 columns and a column for meal planning which I love! There’s also another column which has a ‘Things to do’ header and a ‘Next week’ header. This is great for forward planning and such a handy feature.

After 16 months worth of weekly planning pages, there’s a tabbed section for the monthly planning pages. I like that these are tabbed and easy to find within the planner. The monthly planning pages include a to do list page and a budget page with pre-written sections such as Mortgage, Electricity, Telephone and Council Tax expenses. Theres also an income and outgoings page for the month which is really handy for planning your finances and staying organised with bill payments and savings. Within this section there’s also month-to-view pages for at a glance planning. This would be useful for planning holidays and weekends away.

Organise Christmas and Holiday plans

It might well be half a year away but as any organised Mum will tell you, they start to think about Christmas well in advance. The Christmas and holiday planning section includes a budget page, a Christmas card list, Christmas present list and a Christmas shopping list.

The Summer Holiday Planner is a brilliant way to plan childcare, days out and holidays for the main summer holidays between July and September. It features six weeks worth of daily boxes to fill with plans and see at a glance, what’s being organised so you don’t miss an important play date or dentist appointment.

Never forget to make a shopping list again

The final tabbed section of the planner is full of perforated pages so you can write your shopping list throughout the week and tear it off to take with you to the supermarket. This is a brilliant idea and something I will definitely use.

Advantages of using the Family Life Book

The best thing about the Boxclever Press Busy Family Life Book with the zip up cover is that once you’ve come to the end of your planner, you can remove it from the cover and slip in next years diary. Your address book will already be written out so there’s no need to spend hours re-writing everything, just fill in the diary for the year ahead and you’re already on your way to staying organised!

I love that the planner has a column for each member of the family. There’s no need to write in tiny handwriting or in abbreviations, each person can have their own column and their own schedule planned.

Tip: Keep the order of the family members columns the same throughout the book and it’ll help when planning and organising on each page.
