If you’re taking a baby with you who cannot go on any of the rides at Disneyland Paris, you must make use of the Baby Switch Service. As a family of four; 2 parents and 2 children (one under one and one aged five) it was inevitable that one of us was going to be sitting on the sidelines with the baby whilst waiting for the other two to come off the ride. But what if the other parent wants to enjoy the ride too? The free Baby Switch service is brilliant!
The Baby Switch service (aka Rider Switch) at Disneyland Paris is brilliant for parents/carers who both want to enjoy the rides and what’s better it is completely free. Having used the service recently (August 2018) on our trip to Disneyland Paris, I can only vouch for the rides mentioned here, we didn’t get chance to experience all the rides at Disneyland Paris or in Walt Disney Studios.
Baby Switch at Autopia
We first used the Baby Switch service on the Autopia ride. My little boy and I queued for the ride (30 minutes) and asked a member of the crew who was showing us to our car about the service. She didn’t have a permission slip on her but asked me to come back after our ride and she would find a colleague who did have one. She gave me a slip of paper that acted as our Baby Switch pass and I gave this to my husband who was waiting for us at the exit with the baby. He skipped the queue with my son and got to enjoy the ride.
Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast
To get the pass on this ride, we had to ask a crew member at the end of the ride. She didn’t have any passes to hand out so asked to see my husband at the exit gate with the baby. She took my husband Shilts and our five year old, through the exit of the ride and they got on immediately.
Slinky Dog Zig Zag Spin
Although the queue for this ride isn’t very long, it’s always great to ask about the Baby Switch service anyway. We asked about the service at the entrance to the ride and was told to tell the crew member once we got off. My husband and son went back to the exit and was seated on the ride again immediately.
My son and I used our fast passes for this ride whilst we left my husband with our baby outside. Once the ride had finished, we asked about a baby switch pass and the crew member gave me a laminated Baby Switch card. Interestingly, when my husband presented the pass at the entrance of the ride, a member of crew asked my husband to point me out with the baby as we weren’t sure he believed we had the pass through genuine means.
I believe you can use the service on all the Disney rides but these are the ones we enjoyed this Summer. The Baby Switch service is a fantastic way for the other parent to enjoy the ride whilst looking after a baby. You all can get your monies worth and enjoy the Disney magic too!
