When you think of Christmas, it’s often the sights and the smells that resonate with us the most. The memories of Christmas past for me often include the sights of twinkly Christmas lights, with candles burning above the fireplace with the home looking all cosy and festive along with the familiar scent of home cooked mince pies and a real Christmas tree. It just cannot be beaten.
As Olly is now much more aware of the festive period, I’m really eager to create magical Christmas memories for him and this year, getting a real Christmas tree from Pines and Needles has added to the festive magic. We’ve had a tree from Pines and Needles in previous years and really loved the trees, lets face it if they’re good enough for Prince Harry and his new fiancé, they’re good enough for us too!
We had our 6ft Nordmann Fir Christmas Tree delivered on Friday, which happened to be the first day of December, which meant it was perfectly acceptable to put it up and decorate it when the rest of the family got home. It came delivered from Pines and Needles, in netting and a protective plastic sheet which meant it reached us in perfect condition. We’ve stood the tree up in a tree stand and gave it a well deserved drink of water. We’ll keep the tree topped up with water throughout December to preserve it and to avoid it drying out.
Olly was really looking forward to adding his own baubles to the tree and seeing the Christmas lights twinkle as Shilts weaved the lights around the branches. It’s a real family affair decorating the tree and this year, is probably the first year when I’ve been happy with the way that both my husband and Olly have placed their baubles and trinkets on the tree. I have suffered from OBP (obsessive bauble placement) in the past but this year, I’ve loved the way they have decorated the tree.
One of the obvious things about a real Christmas tree is the smell. I cannot describe it’s fragrance, it’s just warm, inviting and evokes so many wonderful memories for me; something I really cherish about getting a real tree in our home for the festive period, it just smells right. I don’t think we could ever go back to not having a real tree in our home now and I really hope it adds to the memories that Olly’s storing up as we enjoy a lovely family Christmas together.
Our Nordmann Fir has been sitting pride of place in the bay window of our home and we absolutely love it. The branches have relaxed and after the initial fall out of some of the needles as we positioned the tree in place, we haven’t noticed many fall out at all. It’s got such a beautiful shape, we’re all so impressed with it. Our tree is 6ft in size and retails at just £59.95 which I personally think is fantastic value for money.
If you’re looking for a real Christmas tree this year and like us you don’t have time to go and fetch one for yourself, you can rely on the team at Pines and Needles to pick a beautiful Christmas tree for you and best of all, they’ll deliver in and around the UK too.
