A birthday weekend at Butlin’s Bognor Regis | Part One

Last weekend we spent 3 nights at Butlin’s Bognor Regis on the south coast of England. It was Olly’s fourth birthday too so we were all rather excited to pack a little suitcase each and head down to the seaside for some quality family time together.

We didn’t really know what to expect from Butlin’s to be honest, we knew it was a holiday resort for families and having looked on their website before our arrival, we knew what kind of activities were on offer. But until you’re there and you experience it all for yourself, you never really know what it’s going to be like. As with everything we do as a family, we try and make the best of our experiences, so with an open mind and our swimming cossies and winter coats packed, we drove down to Bognor Regis for a weekend of adventure and family fun.

Accommodation in the Wave Hotel

We booked a Dolphin Room in the Wave hotel that slept 2 adults and 2 children. We were on the fourth floor with a view over the main resort. We loved how modern the room looked and it looked very clean and comfortable. The bedroom for children was brilliant as it had a nautical design with a bunk bed. It also had a port hole window in the door which made you think you were on a submarine. Olly was delighted that both his beds had TV’s at the bottom so he could watch something different in his own room.

Top tip: Take a pair of headphones for your children to plug into their own TV’s.

Our room had all the usual hotel facilities including tea and coffee supplies, a kettle, a small fridge, a safe and a hairdryer. We also had towels and daily housekeeping as part of our stay.

We were really impressed with the room, we didn’t really spend enough time in it apart from sleeping and using the bathroom. We found it really clean and surprisingly quiet given that it was the start of the February half term holidays with plenty of families on resort.

Oh this looks incredible Emma, I love the nautical theme in the children’s room. When I went to Europa-Park they had boat bunk-beds and my children would love it so much, I didn’t realise there was something similar in the UK, definitely worth considering booking these rooms if we head to Butlins. Although I’m also impressed that some of the caravans in Skegness Butlins accept dogs so we may go to those ones so that the dogs can come along too.

I have never been to Butlins before and like you have no idea what to expect. Your room looks really nice though, nothing at all like I expected Butlins to be like xx
