Spooky Seas at The National Sea Life Centre Birmingham

During half term, Olly and I went over to The National Sea Life Centre in Birmingham to visit their Spooky Seas themed event. Olly is a huge fan of the Sea Life Centre so was excited to see what spook-tastic creatures we could see.

As we arrived at the Sea Life Centre it was lovely to see that there were Halloween themed decorations dotted around the centre. There were pumpkins and cobwebs which Olly thought were brilliant.

Our first port of call were to see the Gentoo Penguins. We managed to catch feeding time which was brilliant to watch and we loved watching them dive into the water past the windows. They were a definite crowd pleaser and Olly was enthralled watching them, we could have been there hours watching them swim in and out of the water.

We made our way around the Sea Life centre looking at the mysterious sea creatures, looking on in amazement at the jellyfish as they gracefully made their way across the tank.

I am a huge seahorse fan and it was fantastic to see a couple of really pregnant seahorses, there’s going to be quite a few hundred (or thousand) baby seashorses sometime soon! Did you know it’s the male seahorses who carry their young? How amazing is that!

We loved looking at the starfish. You really can get up close to them with the bubble tanks and take in their amazing forms.

No visit to the Sea Life Centre would be complete without a trip through the Ocean Tunnel to marvel at the scary sharks and the enormous sea turtle. We both really love walking through the tunnel. It’s pretty amazing to see the sea creatures swim over our heads and then under our feet.

We had a really lovely morning exploring the Sea Life Centre and we can’t wait to go back soon.

Ooh I’m liking the Halloween decorations, I’m sorry we missed it! We’d hoped to go but everyone was ill over half term.
