Halloween is just around the corner and this year, our three year old Olly has taken a keen interest in it. Poundworld recently invited us to visit our local store in West Bromwich to have a look at this years Halloween range and I was pleasantly surprised to see such a variety of products available in-store at such brilliant good value prices.
I went shopping alone (what a novelty!) and enjoyed looking around the store. The Halloween range is plentiful and as Olly is far too young for a lot of the really gruesome Halloween products (e.g. weapons, zombies and the like) that are available in the shops, I was really pleased to see a child-friendly cartoon character range of Halloween products in Poundworld.
I decided to host a little Halloween tea party so was keen to have a look at the range of decorations, their tableware and ‘trick or treat’ sweet selections. I picked up some paper plates in two different colour designs; neon green and black polka dot and an orange and purple character themed plate. I also picked up some paper cups with the same character design. I loved the purple cobweb basket so picked that up for the table too. The character plastic beakers were a brilliant buy. Olly has assigned each character to each of us and their arms even move too!
The decorations in store are super cute and not at all scary for three year olds. I bought a couple of fuzzy ghosts and a couple of fuzzy pumpkins. Not only do they look good on the table, they would be great to hang around the house on Halloween. I loved these Frankenstein mini buckets, perfect for serving little dips or for kids to stash their sweets in. There was also a good selection of signs too perfect for dressing up the house for a Halloween party.
I picked up the pumpkin battery operated lights as they are just too brilliant to leave behind. Olly is a huge fan of pretty lights so no doubt these will end up in his bedroom at some point hanging from his shelves.
Not only is there a huge selection of decorations for Halloween fans, Poundworld also sell a great range of treats perfect for trick or treaters; I bought some Halloween Haribo sweets and some freaky looking foam sweets in the shape of eyeballs (gross!) and other disgusting body parts as well as spooky shaped chocolates.
I couldn’t wait to lay the table for the tea party and as I have been looking at Pinterest for party food ideas, I couldn’t wait to make a few of the Halloween inspired treats. Olly and I both made the food for the tea party, I hoped that if he took an interest in it, he might want to try it? Ha, who am I kidding! It looked pretty good though. We made batman pizzas and mummy dogs, followed by screaming strawberries, banana ghouls and dirt desserts with hidden wiggly worms.
I am so fond of those little mummy dogs, they’re super cute! We could have really gone overboard with the food ideas as there’s so much to choose from but when the accessories from Poundworld are so cheap, you don’t need to spend a fortune to have a frightening Halloween event.
We didn’t buy any outfits for Halloween as Olly will point blank refuse to wear anything gimmicky (we are so looking forward to dressing up days in school!) but there was a fantastic selection for both adults and children. I really should have bought the stripy purple and black tights, they would have looked brilliant.
Have you checked out your local Poundworld yet? Get down there and get ready for Halloween, I’m sure your little ghouls will thank you for it.
