Last week, my beautiful Little Mr took his first unaided steps, aged 15 months old. It was a moment I was sure I was going to miss but he did it. He took four little wobbly steps towards me and I was so so proud as he grabbed my hand and his little face beamed.
He’s been walking along with his walker at his Grandparents house for a while now and we were sure it would happen sooner but it hasn’t. I’m confident he’ll do it in his own time when he’s ready but he’s such a fast crawler, it’s going to take a while to build up his confidence to get about on his feet. We’ll keep encouraging him and holding his hand tight as we walk along together taking those tiny little steps forward.
I’ve bought him a pair of little white converse pumps to add to his shoe collection. So far he’s only got five pairs of shoes; one pair of brown crawlers, a pair of grey laceless pumps, a pair of blue jellies, his converse and his little red slippers. I am unbelievably aware of how quick he’s growing up and how he’s outgrowing his clothes and I’m sure he’ll be outgrowing his shoes in no time at all.
I know that as soon as he takes a few more steps and walks that little bit further, there’s going to be no stopping him. He’s growing up far too fast and I don’t like it. Where’s my baby gone?
