Let them eat cake!

So this weekend was lovely with all the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations. We thought we’d get into the spirit of it all and we had a small family barbecue. I made some bunting for the occasion and hung it in the garden with balloons and union flag bunting. The weather was cold but dry so we made the most of using the garden. Hubby fired up the barbecue and so we had sausages, burgers and grilled chicken. I was relatively good on the food front, I had a couple of burgers and a sausage in lovely fresh baps but considering that was for lunch and dinner I didn’t do too badly.

I also baked some yummy cakes (chocolate chip muffins, double choc chip muffins, chocolate crispy cakes and a Victoria Sponge), I made a trifle and my Mom bought over some homemade scones and strawberry jam.

It was a lovely day topped off with spending some quality time with my Mom making my kitchen roman blind whilst watching the Jubilee concert. It was an incredible concert and I just love the song Gary Barlow composed and pulled together with help from people across the Commonwealth. I’ve purchased the song but if you’ve not heard it click here for a little listen.  My Mom got all emotional watching the documentary on Sunday night so was again crying her eyes out when they performed it live, bless her.

So, Jubilee celebrations over and I’m off to weigh-in shortly. I’m hoping for a small loss but after yesterday who knows, I only ate 3 cakes but it could of been a lot worse, luckily my Sister and nephew ate the majority! Hope you’ve all enjoyed the Jubilee weekend and extended Bank Holiday if you’ve had them.. {sig}
