Traditional Easter decorations

Traditional decorations should form the basic decoration at home. Many of them can be reused. These include, for example, the Easter wreath that you hang on the front door of your house or apartment.

You can also add accessories such as decorative Easter chicks, various dried flowers, eggshells, twigs, and more. A combination of yellows, greens, and earthy colours should predominate, and everything should be natural if possible. Artificial materials are not only environmentally unfriendly, they don’t suit Easter, which is a celebration of life. If you do have artificial decorations, always use them repeatedly, not as a one-off.

Let’s not forget the Easter eggs. Take the time to paint them yourself this year. Whether you use classic or more modern methods, a self-made decoration will bring you more joy than any other.

Traditional dishes not to leave out

Traditional Easter dishes are also very much a decoration. For example, the Easter lamb pie decorates almost every living room. Often several of them are baked in the family so that at least one remains on the table until Easter Monday. The traditional jidáš or mazanec are also much admired.

Set the mood with home textiles

You can also add an Easter feel to many other parts of your interior. For example, Easter curtains are becoming increasingly popular. Whether they feature Easter eggs, chicks, or cats, they’re sure to make your windows more cheerful.

You can also decorate with festive cushions, and you can certainly find an Easter tablecloth, a table runner, or even Easter tea towels in the shop. Especially during February and March, there is an almost limitless supply of shops offering these.

Easter is a celebration of life

In addition to Christian tradition, Easter is also associated with nature waking up after winter. It is for this reason that Easter decorations should be made of natural materials.

But why not take home a piece of nature itself? You can cut sprigs of holly for your vase, on which the catkins or sprigs of laburnum will bloom.

Another great tip is the green aspen decoration. Use watercress, barley, or lentil seeds. You need to do this at least two weeks before Easter to get a nice “lawn” in your pot. You can then trim the grass and decorate the pot yourself, or you can stick the decorations directly into the clay with skewers.

Above all, remember that Easter is a holiday that brings you together with family and friends. So prepare a treat for them or plan a trip to the awakening nature for the first warm days of spring.
