As part of the Bloggers’ Quilt Festival – Spring 2011,
please let me introduce you (again!) to my first ever completed quilt – the Nostalgia quilt.
My in-laws bought me a jelly roll of Nostalgia fabric for Christmas and I was itching to get started on my first quilt so I thought I’d put it to good use and begin. I’d already found a pattern that I wanted to use for my first quilt so as soon as the Christmas festivities were over, I cleared the dining room table and began cutting.
It took me about 8 weeks in total from start to finish (including binding) because I was working on it in the evenings and at weekends when I got a spare hour or two. I was so chuffed with the finished result as for my first attempt it’s really quite good (even if I do say so myself!)
I have learnt so much from this quilt. I have learnt not to sew or quilt when I am tired as I make silly, daft mistakes which seem to take forever to correct. I’ve also learnt how to bind, never knew how to do it before but thanks to fellow quilters and their step-by-step tutorials I was able to learn a new skill! Don’t get me wrong this quilt is definately not perfect, but each little imperfection reminds me what a fab quilting journey i’ve been on.

Beautiful first quilt! I love the pattern and the fabric. Seriously, I just googled it (call me fabric crazy) – but the fabric I get doesn’t seem to be the same. Weird.

No quilt is perfect, but we make them to the best of our abilities. By the way I don;t notice any imperfections in yours – it is great.
