Welcome back to #SlimmingSunday, the weightloss, fitness and healthy lifestyle linky with me, MrsShilts and Michelle from Mummy From The Heart.
Since my last #SlimmingSunday post, I’ve announced I’m pregnant and expecting our much wanted second baby in January 2018. The first 14 or so weeks of my pregnancy have been filled with nausea, actual sickness, dizziness and I’ve been so so tired. I’ve not been eating very well and following the SW plan to the letter as I’ve gone off all my favourite meals; I can’t stomach chicken at all, I can’t eat foods that go soggy like a salad with a dressing on, cooked vegetables such as carrots and cauliflower as they just make me gag and heave. Weirdly, strawberries and most fruit made me feel sick too so I’ve missed those. I’ve gone off drinking tea and coffee as they just don’t taste right to me, it’s really bizarre but I’m hoping that now I’m into the second trimester that I’ll be able to start introducing foods that I love back into my diet.
Slimming World recommended by RCW
The Slimming World plan is the only ‘diet’ related plan that has been approved by The Royal College of Midwives. Pregnant ladies can follow the healthy eating plan which will enable them to enjoy a varied and balanced diet during their pregnancy with additional attention to fibre and calcium (additional Healthy A and Healthy B choices).
My SW consultant has known about my pregnancy for a while now and has given me one of the SW booklets to make sure I’m clued up on eating well throughout my pregnancy. There’s no pressure to lose weight whilst you’re pregnant and following the plan which is good to hear but it’s good to keep in mind that you still need to be careful of what you’re eating so you don’t pile on the pounds. I definitely won’t be eating for two during this pregnancy.
Slimming World recommend that you select 2xA and 2xB Healthy Extra choices per day to help supply calcium and fibre during the pregnancy. I’m quite pleased about the additional Healthy A choices, although I’ve gone off drinking milk, I’ve been rather partial to a bit of cheese opting for grated cheese sandwiches and cheese and beans on my jacket potatoes.
You can also have additional Healthy A and B choices when you’re breastfeeding but we’ll cross that bridge in the new year!
To date, I’ve only put on about 3.5lb since becoming pregnant which I’m quite pleased with. I guess throwing up 3 to 4 times a week hinders weight gain, every cloud and all that!
