If you’re looking for a fun-filled day out with something for the whole family then Drayton Manor Park in Tamworth, Staffordshire is a good shout. We visited the theme park last weekend and had a brilliant day out. We’re no strangers to the theme park having been many times as a family over the last four years and many times as teenagers (many moons ago) so we’ve compiled a list of five reasons to visit Drayton Manor Theme Park this Summer.
5 reasons to visit Drayton Manor Theme Park
Our son Olly, aged 4, is a huge Thomas the Tank Engine fan. He loves all things trains, planes and automobiles so a visit to Thomas Land is an absolute must. His favourite rides are Flynn’s Fire Rescue, Sodor Classic Cars and Thomas, Rosie, Percy Engine Tours. With over 20 different attractions within Thomas Land, there is plenty to keep pre-schoolers occupied including the latest ride to the park, James and the Red Balloon.
We love walking around the zoo at Drayton Manor as there’s always something different to see. We were really excited to see the Sumatran Tigers up and about in their enclosure. They are such majestic animals and such a pleasure to watch.
We also loved to watch the Sulawesi Crested Macaque in their enclosure, playing with each other and watching the crowds go by. Such wonderful primates to watch and see how they interact with each other.
We loved to walk around the zoo and see all the different animals and creatures. Olly and his Daddy also loved going in the Reptile House to spot the Lizards, Dragons and Snakes.
Something for the teens
Drayton Manor Theme Park is fantastic for thrill-seekers and dare devils who like rollercoasters and white knuckle rides. With rides such as Shockwave, G-Force, Maelstrom and Apocalypse there really is something for everyone.
As well as Thomas Live Shows at Knapford Station with the Fat Controller and friends, there’s also entertainment from Rory the Lion and his friends. We watched a fun show of live entertainment and dancing from the African Adventures team which really drew a crowd.
Facilities, food and drink and free car parking
As well as all the rides, the attractions, the animals in the zoo and all the entertainment, the facilities at Drayton Manor Park are really family friendly. There’s plenty of food and drink outlets to buy a hot cup of tea or treat the family to an ice cream, there’s plenty of picnic areas to stop and enjoy your packed lunch and there’s great baby changing facilities for the little ones. We also like that there’s free car parking too which isn’t too much of a trek away from the main park.
We had a brilliant day out at Drayton Manor Theme Park and will probably be back in the next school holidays for more family fun and adventures!
