The BOB Revolution PRO is a mighty pushchair. Not for the faint hearted, the BOB is the sports pushchair with ultimate versatility.
When I first received the BOB Revolution Pro to review I was a little worried about not being able to get the best from it to really give it a good test. I’m not a runner, I never will be so running with a pushchair will never be a review you’ll read from me. What you will get from me though is a review that tests the pushchair on all terrain; the local pavements, the woods at the Monkey Forest and the cobbles of Warwick Castle.
The BOB (originally from the company known as Beast Of Burden) as it is lovingly called in our house, is suitable for babies aged 6 months plus and is roomy enough for toddlers up to the weight of around 17kg. Little Mr is currently around 11kg so perfect for testing the BOB on our day trips out.
There’s no denying that the BOB is a large pushchair. It has two huge 16″ pneumatic tyres ideal for tackling all terrain and a single front wheel that can be used in sport or city mode. The front wheel swivels effortlessly which is brilliant. The BOB really will go where you want it to go.
I’ll admit it took me a little while to get used to the BOB. It’s not your average pushchair. When I first took the pushchair out of the box, the BOB scared me. It has an amazing suspension system, tracking adjustment on the front wheel and a drum handbrake. It is a serious off roader and these added features really do make it easy for sporty parents to get out and about to enjoy the outdoors taking their little ones with them in the knowledge that they’re going to be safe.
We have used the BOB on several day trips and for our walks in the countryside. Most recently, we took the BOB with us to the Monkey Forest and Little Mr sat in the pushchair in comfort whilst my hubby navigated the BOB up and down the muddy paths around the forest. The 5 point safety harness held Little Mr in well and he seemed rather comfortable as we walked around and slid down the hills because of the rain. We have really enjoyed taking the BOB Revolution Pro on our day trips. The adjustable handle means that both me and hubby can push the stroller with ease and the padded handle gives grip comfort which is ideal on long walks with an uphill element and similarly the drum handbrake is brilliant for when the momentum of going downhill adds to the weight of the pushchair and you don’t want the BOB to run off with your little one without you.
not ideal for rainy days
It is disappointing that the BOB doesn’t come with a rain cover as standard. This is an additional extra that you need to buy and I think this is a shame. We would have used the BOB more frequently had a rain cover been included and I think this is something that perhaps BOB may need to include for customers in the UK or other countries with wetter climates. (The BOB is most popular in its US homeland and in particular, California where the sun shines a lot!) Having said that, on sunnier days in the UK, the multi position canopy is great as it gives great coverage and does protect little faces and bodies from direct sunshine. There’s also a large viewing window on the canopy so you can keep an eye on your little one.
I love the storage that BOB provides. There’s a large basket underneath for shopping, picnic essentials or coats, a large pocket on the seat back and two small interior pockets to keep little one’s drinks or snacks to hand.
The pushchair can be quickly and easily folded up for storage and the quick release wheels are great for when you need to store the BOB in the car for weekends away or day trips. The BOB Revolution Pro comes with a black, powder coated frame and is available in 3 different colour ways; black, red or wilderness (green).
The BOB Revolution Pro is priced at £455 and is available to buy online.
The BOB Revolution Pro isn’t a cheap pushchair nor is it, in my opinion, one for everyone. If you’re a family who like to get out, about and active then it’s great. It handles well on all terrain and seems to be a comfortable ride for little ones. I’d definitely recommend it for active families.
