Yesterday Little Mr and I took advantage of the mini heat wave we were experiencing and headed out to Splash Park Walsall Arboretum, a local park in the West Midlands. I was so pleased the weather was still lovely so packed up a picnic, Little Mr’s swimsuit, grabbed the sun cream and met up with my friend and her little one at the park to enjoy the sunshine.
At first Little Mr was quite wary about touching the water so we walked around the edge of the splash park getting our toes acclimatised to the temperature of the water. It was quite cool but it soon warmed up in the sunshine and within 5 minutes Little Mr let go of my hand and enjoying splashing in the water and exploring the sprays.
Little Mr did have his jelly shoes on which were ideal for the splash park but as the park is supervised, we were asked to take them off as the area is designed for bare feet only. Unfortunately Little Mr took this move as a sign to say he could crawl instead of toddling around so got on his hands and knees and crawled off. I didn’t realise he was rubbing his toes and lower foot on the ground and at lunchtime, found he had rubbed himself some sores which look quite angry.
After lunch on the grass (there are picnic tables but were taken due to it being so popular) and a quick sunbathe from Little Mr, we enjoyed another half an hour splashing in the water and playing with our friends. It was a really lovely couple of hours.
The weather in the UK is so unpredictable but when it’s nice, it’s really nice and definitely needs to be taken advantage of. It was just beautiful. I really hope our next couple of months is spent with sunny days and fun days out like this. The splash park Walsall Arboretum is really nice and definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.
Little Mr fell asleep on the way home so I had to carry him to his cot from the car. To my surprise he stayed asleep and slept for 3 hours. The sunshine and fresh air wiped him out. We had such a lovely time and I can’t wait to spend more of my Fridays with Little Mr doing things like this. This is what days off are for!
Disclaimer: I wasn’t asked to write this post. We had a fab time and wanted to share the fun.
