All I Want For Christmas

*Paid partnership with Boots

Christmas is one of my most favourite times of the year. It’s a time when friends and family get together and catch up with each other, making the most of the season and enjoying each others company. It’s also a time for exchanging best wishes, cards and gifts and that’s one of my most favourite things to do; give a gift to a loved one and watch their reaction. Boots, one of my favourite gift retailers has asked me to think about gift giving this Christmas and I’ve got a fantastic giveaway too.

Boots is the UK’s leading pharmacy-led health and beauty retailer. I know I’m not alone when I say, they’re my go to place for pharmacy, health and beauty products so when their annual Christmas gift catalogue comes out, I know the Christmas build up is on and I cannot help but feel really excited.

What makes you tick during the festive period?

This year, Boots wanted to find out what really makes their customers tick during the festive period. They wanted to know what gets them excited about Christmas and asked them some key questions including ‘When do you start your Christmas shopping?’ ‘Which person’s gifts receives the most thought?’ and ‘what is the most quintessential Christmas dinner food?’

When do you start your Christmas shopping?

The results are really fascinating. Almost a quarter of Brits start their Christmas shopping in August which is something I am in agreement with. I like to give myself plenty of time to browse, plan ahead and pick up gifts in sales and when on offer. I don’t like buying too much in advance just in case the recipient changes their mind about a certain perfume, toy character or food preference.

Who’s gift receives the most thought?

For me, the people that receive the most thought from me at Christmas are my children. I love to research gift ideas and see what new products are available. To imagine their faces on Christmas morning and see what gifts are left under the tree with their names on, it’s just magical. According to the research, 38% of us believe getting their partners gifts receive the most thought with children following behind.

In line with the research results, 57% of people say that seeing the recipients face when opening the gift is their favourite part of gift giving and I have to completely agree. I love to see the reactions of family and friends as they see and open their gifts. I love surprising them with thoughtful presents, it really does give me a little glow inside.

What’s the most quintessential Christmas dinner food?

When thinking about the most quintessential Christmas dinner food, a whopping 69% of us believe that roast potatoes are up there. They’re pretty much a staple of every Christmas dinner plate along with the Christmas turkey and a handful of sprouts. Who doesn’t love a Christmas dinner?

Gifting from Boots this Christmas

Boots asked me to look through their Christmas gift selection to pick out three gifts; one for her, one for him and one for me because according to their research, 37% of us would prefer to self-gift rather than receive a Christmas present from others this year.

There is a huge variety of gifts available this year from Boots. With huge brand names and an incredible selection, there really is something for everyone.  For him, I picked out a really practical gift as I find that’s what works best for my husband. Something he can use frequently and something he probably wouldn’t buy himself. I chose the Joules Mens Wallet and Duo set consisting of a luxurious look wallet with a duo set of products that he can use in his wash bag. It’s a great set and one I know will be appreciated. Check out the Christmas Gifts for Him here.

All I Want For Christmas

For her, I chose a Benefit Christmas Gift set which is a product I would love to receive myself. It consists of a selection of full size Benefit products, that can be used on their own or as part of a complete look. Make up can be a very personal choice and I know that the recipient of this gift set (who remains a secret for now) is going to really love it. It’s a premium brand with make up products that can deliver an abundance of confidence and oozes style. Check out the Christmas Gifts for Her here.

All I Want For Christmas

For myself, I chose the Essential Eye Kit. I love make up but don’t always have the spare funds to buy much of it. I loved this gift set as it’s includes a brilliant range of products that when combined can help to achieve a dramatic look.

All I Want For Christmas

There’s a fantastic selection of gifts available at Boots this year and there’s certainly something for everyone with products for him, for her and for the children. Head in-store or online now and get Christmas wrapped up.

I normally start mid October, stocking fillers, main prezzies in November and any last min stuff December. I don’t have a large family so its not as costly but I still like to spread it out a bit. I do keep an eye on what I have already and make a little note of who I’ve still to buy for and what I think I’m getting them. Hubby and I don’t bother getting each other anything, we’re both happy with this as if we want anything we usually just get it.

I like to pick up bits and bobs throughout the year as I come across them. I don’t necessarily have a particular person in mind for it, I just feel it would make a nice present for someone in the family. The ‘big’ items I leave till much later in the year, possibly November. To avoid disappointment on the day, we always check with each other if there’s anything particular they have their eye on; if not, it’s usually a gift of money so they can take their time and perhaps snap up a real bargain in the sales.

  • Reply lesley renshaw 08/11/2019 at 12:32 am

I tend to buy presents for my Mum, siblings, friends, etc in the Boxing Day sales as they’re reduced in price and it saves so much money. As my daughter’s tastes change from season to season, I tend to buy stocking fillers through the year when I spot a bargain and get the more specific presents from her wishlist from October onwards. I usually leave my OH’s present until late November – December time as it’s his birthday and as I’ve got everyone else’s out the way by then, I can enjoy looking for his when the shops are busy and can soak up the Christmassy atmosphere without too much stress.

  • Reply Helen Stratton 08/11/2019 at 9:41 am

I start around September. I don’t like to start too early so I have it sitting around for ages, but I need to start a bit early as I have a lot to buy and I need to spread the cost a bit.

  • Reply Katrina Adams 08/11/2019 at 10:16 am

I spread it out over the year (starting in January sales if I see a good bargain that I know someone will love), and then I make a list and wrap as I go along, using sticker tags and putting them in a Christmas box that I have set aside. It just means that I can then relax in the lead up to the big day because everything is done!
