Christmas Moor Hall

*Review

Have you thought about Christmas yet? Last weekend, I was invited to get into the festive spirit to spend the afternoon at Moor Hall Hotel and Spa, Sutton Coldfield to enjoy their Festive Afternoon Tea offering. I had been invited to sample the seasonal selection of finger sandwiches, try out the Christmas cake and of course, drink a hot cup of loose leaf tea whilst listening to Christmas songs in beautifully relaxing surroundings.

I’ve been to Moor Hall Hotel on several occasions over the last few years; some friends got married there, we’ve had a big family meal there as well as a celebratory birthday afternoon tea. I was keen to find out how the festive afternoon tea would differ from their regular afternoon tea offering and was intrigued to see what would be on the menu.

I was welcomed into the hotel with Christmas carols playing, a huge Christmas tree decorated with twinkly lights stood by the window and Christmas Gin cocktails were served. The hotel serves Edinburgh Gin and I was invited to try the Festive Edinburgh Gin with Frankincense and Myrrh flavour which I’m sure all gin fans will really enjoy this Christmas.

After catching up with fellow bloggers and meeting some key members of the hotel staff, our festive afternoon tea was served. It looked incredible! A definite feast for the eyes. There was a seasonal selection of fingers sandwiches which included a delicious turkey sandwich with cranberry sauce and sage stuffing. The sweet treats on offer included a homemade fruit and plain scone, a wonderfully rich Christmas cake bite, stollen bites, mini chocolate fudge cakes and a mulled wine trifle.

The festive afternoon tea selection was served with fresh loose leaf tea. There’s a choice of teas to drink including Assam, Earl Grey, Green, Fruit and Herbal teas. I chose the exclusive Moor Hall blend which is similar to English breakfast tea and was a delight, it’s such a rare treat to enjoy a hot cup of tea on my own.

The festive afternoon tea was really nice and we even got chance to enjoy the rare late September sunshine and have a walk around the beautiful grounds. It’s such a beautiful location and ideal for a wonderful afternoon with family and friends.
