We love listening to music in our family. We often listen to it in the garden as the boys are playing and it’s always on in the kitchen when I’m cooking. As soon as some of our favourite songs are played, I start singing and the boys start dancing. We love it. We were recently introduced to family singer and songwriter David Gibb who, frustrated at the lack of high quality music available to families and inspired by the strong children’s music movement in America, has developed his music here in the UK. David has recently released his latest album Rolling Down The Road and we were sent a copy to review.
Rolling Down The Road, the album
Rolling Down The Road is a collection of 15 family friendly engaging songs that capture the imagination of both adults and children. David’s songs are an eclectic mix of genres with folk, rock n roll, jazz and country all exploring life’s simple pleasures which through the eyes of a child are the most magical thing. From the simple joy of riding on the top deck of a bus, or growing a sunflower in the garden. His music lets us forget the troubles and worries of everyday life and reminds us of how simple things can bring so much joy. His album is a delight to listen to and is full of catchy songs that you just can’t help but sing along too.
David’s latest album Rolling Down The Road will be accompanied by an exciting live music stage show, devised by David himself alongside best selling children’s author Michelle Robinson and produced and directed by Half Moon Theatre in London. The show, which is set to open today, is based around the songs and music from his new album and features David performing alongside other guest musicians. The show will then tour the UK in Spring 2020, with an opening run at The Story Museum in Oxford.
Our very own personalised song written by David Gibb
We have also had an exclusive opportunity to have a song written especially for us by David himself. We absolutely love the song and it’s been played on repeat lots this summer. We love the inclusion of the boys names as well as Little Ted being mentioned and Olly’s love of Bourbon biscuits. We’d love you to go and check out the track as it’s so catchy, it’s one of those songs that sticks in your head for days and you find yourself singing it in the shower, and that’s just me! My boys adore it and if you watch the video, you’ll notice Freddie bouncing away and dancing and that’s because he loves it as much as I do!
You can find out more about the wonderful collection of music written by David Gibb over on his website www.davidgibb.com. You can discover his latest concert dates, watch the videos accompanying his favourite tracks and get your hands on his latest album too!
We’d like to personally thank David for the incredible track he’s written especially for us. It’s a real favourite and we can’t stop listening to it. Thank you so much and good luck with the album and tour!
