Last weekend we were hoping to visit the beautiful confetti fields over in Wick, Pershore but the poor weather we had meant that the flowers hadn’t bloomed enough to warrant our drive down to see them. Instead we jumped in the car and headed out to Shropshire to take in the countryside views and to explore a bit more of the county.
We really love Shropshire and if circumstances were different (and we had more money) we would love to live out that way. It’s got busy towns and small villages but whenever we drive around it, I always get the feeling of having lots of space. I would love to have the countryside on our doorstep for walks in the sunshine and having views to admire. Something I do really miss living here in a town. I come from Staffordshire where we regularly saw fields and green open spaces. The town can be quite claustrophobic sometimes.
We headed off the M54 and drove towards Newport which is a small market town in Shropshire. As we were driving down the hill we could see a field of red in the distance and I knew we had to investigate it. I had heard there were poppy fields at Blackstone in Bewdley that many a professional photographer had been to shoot but nothing in Shropshire so I was excited to see the flowers.
We drove down towards the poppy fields and the view was beautiful. There was a slight breeze so you could see the poppies dancing about in the wind. We parked at the side of the road and stood at the side of the field and took in the view. It was so lovely to watch. We walked on the dirt track next to the field and I couldn’t get the boys to stand between the two fields for a photograph of them both. You know sometimes you see a fantastic photo in your head but actually getting people to do as you want them to is impossible!
We managed to take a few photographs in the poppy fields and I do really love them. England’s countryside is so beautiful when you get the chance to stop and take a look.
