Does your child love drawing and has a brilliant imagination? Do they love putting their creative ideas down on paper? Benchmarx Kitchens have recently launched their ‘Kid-Chen’ designer competition and it’s a brilliant opportunity for your child to let their imaginations run wild and create their very own designer kitchen. Do you ever wonder what they’d create if given the chance?
Benchmarx Kitchens is known for its innovative products and creative design teams, and are now looking for a new recruit to help them create the company’s first kid-inspired, dream kitchen. Children aged between 4 and 11 years old are invited to apply by asking a grown up to download the entry form and then getting their thinking caps on to design their dream kitchen.
What’s on offer?
Perhaps it’s a tunnel out to the garden, a secret sweetie stash under the floor or perhaps a chocolate milkshake tap? Children have the best imaginations and Benchmarx Kitchens are looking for the best ideas to re-create. The winning entry will be rewarded with £500 worth of family days out, wow! But not only that, the winning Kid-chen Designer’ candidate will see their kitchen become a reality when Benchmarx re-create their design into a true-to-life kitchen for the winner to enjoy with their friends.
I recently asked Olly to come up with some ideas for his ideal kitchen to take part in the competition and after a few minutes of thinking he came up with some brilliant ideas. He didn’t want to spoil his entry form so made some plans in draft before finalising his designs. The sign of a future designer perhaps?
I was pretty impressed with Olly’s kitchen design. He’s included most of the mod-cons that you’d expect in a family home such as a vacuum, a recycling bin and shelves for recipe books and crockery but has included some pretty cool features too. These include a ball pod in the middle of the kitchen so he can jump in whenever he’s bored and a dedicated den space under the kitchen table! He’s also included a cake mixer which apparently adds the ingredients automatically and a clock that you can program to go back in time or leap in the future! Apparently, dinner time takes forever in our house and the clock guarantees an instant meal, clever! There’s even a photo frame that looks like a regular photo frame but is in fact a spy camera to keep an eye on the hidden treats. Love it!
Shortlisted ‘Kid-chen Designer’ candidates will have the chance to explain the thinking behind their design before the successful kitchen is chosen by Benchmarx Kitchens’ team of expert judges to be recreated life-size. As the ‘Kid-chen Designer’in charge of the project, the successful entrant will then play a key role in selecting the materials from their local Benchmarx Kitchens branch, to help create the finished article. How cool is that?
