Finding suitable childcare with help from

*Advertorial review

Our children are our most precious possessions. We rightly want to keep them safe from harm and would wrap them up in bubble wrap to protect them if we could. So it’s only natural that when you need somebody else to look after your child, you make sure they’re trustworthy, responsible and safe to be with. I was recently introduced to the website which states ‘it’s the easy way to find local childcare’, so I was interested to have a look around the site to see just how easy it really is.

What is

childcare is a website where Parents can register to find a wide range of suitable, local childcare providers for their children. The website now has over 2 million users which is incredible! That’s a lot of people finding childcare solutions for their families. As well as a huge user base, the site has a very positive five star rating on the independent review platform Trustpilot which is good to see and is  reassuring. The site also has the facility for those looking for childcare jobs to register and advertise their skills and experience.

Wide choice of childcare listed

There’s a wide choice of childcare available ranging from babysitters, childminders, nannies and au pairs as well as private tutors, private midwives and out of school clubs. Once a user has chosen the relevant form of childcare they are looking for, they can further tailor the selection criteria by applying filters. These filters include whether listed candidates are registered with OFSTED, hold a DBS certificate and have relevant qualifications or First Aid training, to name just a few.

Range of childminder listings

To see how the site worked, I was interested to see how many childminders were listed on the site from my local area. I registered on the site which was quick and easy to do and entered my search criteria to see what results I could find.

I asked to find a range of childminders from within 2 miles of my postcode and I asked for all results to be listed. These filters can again be tailored depending on my search criteria, these include  childminders with own car, childminders who are registered with agencies and childminders who offer tax-free childcare.

The results

The results came back and I was given a choice of 23 childminders from my local area to look at. Their listings gave me their names and a profile picture and the option to view or like their profiles or send them a message. Their profiles also indicated if they have provided with copies of their DBS disclosure and registration certificates. You’re also able to see how much the childcare provider charges per hour and when they last logged into the site which provides further reassurance to see how active they’ve been on the site.

When looking into the profiles of the childcare provider further, you’re able to see references from other users and the scores out of five for the setting, cleanliness, food, communication and an overall score. It’s obvious from having a good look at the profiles that there are some really good childcare providers who have a range of qualifications, glowing references and five star ratings. This would reassure me if I was looking to hire a childminder to look after my children and something I would look out for.

Whilst the website is free to register an account on and search for suitable candidates, there’s also an option for a paid ‘gold membership’. The gold membership offers a range of features and benefits but I’m not sure how I would use an advanced membership other than the free option at this stage.

From spending a few hours on the website, I was confident that I had found a suitable childminder that had a range of qualifications and fulfilled all the requirements that I would be looking for. I would be confident in meeting the childminder to discuss my childcare needs.

Overall, the was easy to use and I felt reassured that there’s lots of help and advice for parents when looking to find childcare. It’s good to know that there’s a website out there that takes some of the stress off you as a parent when looking for a childcare provider to be used and accessed when you need it.
