If you walk into your home and don’t feel instant comfort and warmth, then this is a sign that something needs to change. Luckily, this is very easy to do and by following the below tips you can be sure to really make a difference.
Ways to make your home feel cosier
Update your Bedding
One way for you to make an instant difference would be for you to update your bedding. Consider swapping out the sheets that you have now for some new bed linen. This will really help your bedroom feel cosier and it will also help you to feel that bit more comfortable after a long day at work. If you want to really step things up, then why not use linen in summer and flannel in winter? Jersey is also another great fabric, especially when combined with a throw blanket. This will keep you warm on the cosiest nights, and it will also make it way easier for you to add that bit of extra comfort.
There is nothing worse than having cold feet. It stops you from feeling cosy and you may even find that it impacts your overall comfort level too. If you want to get around this then consider having a pair of very warm and comfortable slippers by the door. As soon as you cross over the threshold, you can then change. The best thing about having slippers by the front door is that it will stop you from dragging in muck from outside, so your home will be cleaner as a result.
Sisal or even flat-weave rugs are fantastic in the middle of summer. In winter on the other hand, you’ll want to have a large area rug that is nice and fluffy. Sometimes comfort comes down to visual elements, so don’t be afraid to experiment or try out different fabrics to see which one works for you.
When you have sheer linen curtains, you need to consider swapping them out for some velvet drapes. Heavy curtains can also be great because they help to keep your home warm in winter and cool in summer. They can also make your room feel super cosy as well, so look into them and choose an option that fits in well with the theme of your home and the colour scheme that you have. If you want to add even more warmth, why not look into wall mounted electric fires as well?
It doesn’t matter how warm or even how cold it is outside, because candles will always add a nice sense of cosier comfort. If you have never thought about having candles in your home before then it helps to choose ones that are scented. When you do, you will soon find that you can liven up the room and that you can also make it appear more welcoming too. Scents such as jasmine, lily or even crisp cotton are great for the living room and dining room. If you are concerned about lighting candles or leaving them unattended then a diffuser can work just as well. This will add fragrance to the room 24 hours a day, so it’s great if you never know when guests are coming around.
