Regardless of whether you have a big or small space to work with or a small or sizeable budget, you can create a living room that really stands out. Here are some key features you should be showing off in your living room.

The Sofa

The sofa is the key element in a living room space because that’s what we use the space for. Whether you opt for three seater sofas by my-furniture.com or invest in a corner sofa, this a feature in the living room that should be shown off. You should have at least a few cushions to complement the main colour or fabric of the sofa and a throw or two depending on the size, gives it that feeling of comfort.

Art Work

Art work really never goes out of fashion, no matter how old it might be. Walls without art even if bright in colour can look a little plain, so don’t be shy when it comes to picking out some pieces that draw your eye. You want to show off your personality, and your own style and art is the best way to do it. Try to match the style of the pieces with your furniture so if you’ve gone for something contemporary with your furniture, you might want to pick art that’s minimalistic.

Nature

Nature is something a lot more households are trying to incorporate into their environment as it’s not only beautiful to have in the home, decor-wise, but it’s also good for your health and wellbeing. When thinking about the living room, you should consider what type of plants will work well and so plants with thicker leaves will look better than using something like ivy which is likely to work better in the bathroom. There are plenty of ways to incorporate nature into the space. You can choose from a variety of standing plant holders, plant pots for the window sills and wall-hanging plant holders.

A Fireplace

If you’re lucky enough to own a fireplace already, then you’re already halfway there. However, you can install artificial fireplaces that either is electronically powered or don’t have the ability to light at all. Fireplaces are a great home comfort feature and one that you should fully take advantage of. If it’s looking a little battered, then invest a little bit of money in restoring it to its original form and use the area to decorate with statues and photo frames.

Curtains Or Blinds

Depending on the size and depth of your windows, decorating your windows with curtain or blinds is a must. It adds privacy and an extra opportunity to add colour or patterns to your living space. If your windows are low then curtains are better, try to opt for heavy curtains if your living room space doesn’t get a lot of sunlight. If it does, a lighter material will allow that natural light to shine through. Blinds are better for taller windows that are deeper.

These key features are a great way to show off your living room, so why not try it for yourself?
