It’s no secret that I love to capture moments between my two boys on camera; a moment of happiness, a surprise, excitement at something new or a realisation of an achievement, all recorded in a blink of an eye through the shutter of the camera lens. A chance to show others that it happened, a moment to remember, look back on and cherish. We recently got the chance to have an outdoors family photoshoot with a local photographer and it was a fantastic experience.
Eimear O’Donnell is a family photographer based in Worcestershire who loves to capture families together. There’s no posing or fake smiles, just the family being together enjoying the great outdoors. As I’m always behind the camera, I couldn’t wait for someone else to do the hard work and take some lovely photographs of my little family. We met up with Eimear at Sandwell Valley Country Park and she was the loveliest lady. Very engaging and friendly, she made us all feel at ease and relaxed in her company.
As Freddie, our one year old son, has very recently learnt to walk, we decided to buy him his first pair of welly boots. I didn’t fancy him walking through the muddy woods at Sandwell Valley in his only pair of shoes so remembered to bring them along for the photoshoot. Eimear got some wonderful photographs of the boys holding hands and walking along the path. Freddie sees open spaces as a chance to practice his walking and loves to wander off so it was lovely to see his big brother guiding him in the right direction.
It was also a brilliant chance for Eimear to take some photographs of us all as a family of four. We don’t often get someone else who really knows what they’re doing to take the photographs (I always use the timer on my camera for our Me and Mine photographs or rope a family member in to point and shoot a photo of us when we’re with them for a family day out or special occasion!) so it was great to be able to enjoy the moment and let Eimear take the photographs.
We spent a good hour with Eimear walking around the woods. She spotted various locations to take some photography and I just love the results. I know I’m biased but she’s really captured my boys brilliantly. She’s managed to get photographs of Olly with his beaming smile and Freddie intrigued by his new wellies. They’re all really lovely shots which I cannot wait to get printed off and display around our home.
Having had the photoshoot experience and seen the final results, I would hand on heart recommend Eimear for a family photo shoot if you’re in the West Midlands area. She has done a brilliant job with capturing my boys at their best and we’re all delighted with the collection of photographs.
