Avoid previous and generic resolutions

Do you find yourself setting the same resolutions each year? If so, now’s the time to break the habit and create new, fresh goals. Evidence shows that revisiting the same goals year upon year only leads to disappointment and frustration.

Similarly, you’ll want to avoid choosing the same generic resolutions as everyone else. In order to stick to your resolutions, they need to be specific to you. So, think about the things you personally want to change and try narrowing them down into small, achievable goals.

Try something new

Have you head the popular saying “Doing the same things and expecting a different result is the definition of madness”? It’s true and one of the main reasons many people fail to stick to their resolutions. If you want to make changes in your life this year, you’re going to need to try different approaches.

So, if you’re trying to lose weight and get healthier for example, you’ll want to make sure you’re doing something different to what you’ve done in the past. There are numerous ways to keep fit in 2019, so why not mix it up and try a new fitness activity?

Consider a reward system

One thing which can help you stick to your new year’s resolutions is a reward system. This is often used on children, but it works surprisingly well for adults too! The idea is to reward yourself after sticking to your resolutions for set time periods. So, once you meet part of your goals, reward yourself. If you’re trying to lose weight, you’ll want to avoid rewarding yourself with food. Instead, treat yourself to new clothes, a day trip out or something which is going to make you feel good.

These are just some of the top tips you can follow to ensure you stick with your 2019 New Year resolutions. The key is to do something different to what you’ve previously tried doing the year before.
