Squirrel Play Wooden Jet Set Airport from Smyths Toys // Review

We love to go to our local airport to watch the airplanes take off and land so getting to recreate the scene at home with the Squirrel Play Wooden Jet Set Airport from Smyths Toys is brilliant fun.

Squirrel Play Wooden Jet Set Airport

The Squirrel Play Wooden Jet Set Airport is a fantastic play set for pre-school children. The brightly coloured wooden airport is set over three floors and comes with it’s own detached runway, passenger lift and airplane. The set also includes a wooden helicopter, a luggage truck complete with 3 suitcases, three wooden people and several wooden cars.

Assemble at home

The wooden play set needs to be assembled at home (using your own cross hair screwdriver) and took my husband Shilts around 20 minutes to build. There is a set of instructions included to help with the building process.

Once the Squirrel Play Wooden Jet Set Airport was built, our son Olly who is five years old, couldn’t wait to start playing with it. He loves visiting an airport so having one to play with at home was really exciting.

Three floors of fun

The airport has three floors; the first, with its loading bay and lift entrance and the luggage truck can drive airport airside to collect passengers bags. Similarly the bus can collect passengers from the airplane that has just arrived and take them to the terminal.

The second floor, accessible via the drawstring pulley lift and ramp at the side of the airport, is home to the airports heliport and either cars or passengers. The choice is completely up to the player. There is no right or wrong way to play with the airport, the possibilities are endless.

The third top floor, is home to the control tower where as all airport buffs will know is the most essential part of the airport. Without the control tower nothing is arriving or departing from the airport.

We love the detail on the toy, it’s clear and sets out spaces on each floor for little ones to use their imaginations and let their airport adventures begin.

Just add imagination

Olly has loved playing with the play set. He loves to recreate the scene from when we went to France last year. We drove to Birmingham airport and flew to Charles de Gaulle airport picking up a hire car for our family holiday in France. Using his memory and a lot of imagination, he recreates our travels and loves it.

We’re really impressed with the Squirrel Play toy. It’s well made, with clear instructions and is easily put together. We love their brand message, ‘for hours of fun, just add imagination’ which is exactly what Olly does.

The Squirrel Play Wooden Jet Set Airport requires no batteries so there’s endless years of fun ahead. It would make a wonderful Christmas or birthday gift, suitable for children aged 3 plus and is priced at £29.99 available from Smyths Toys.

Disclosure: We were sent this toy free of charge for the purpose of this review. All words and photographs are my own. I have been compensated for my time.
