Britax Römer KIDFIX III M Car Seat // Review

Britax Römer KIDFIX III M Car Seat // Review

As a family, we often travel quite a distance at the weekends so making sure the boys are safe and comfortable whilst we’re on our journey is a must. We were recently sent the Britax Römer Kidfix III M car seat, which is exclusive to Mothercare, to try out on the road and after several hours in the car recently, I’m pleased to say it’s contributed to a rather comfortable ride for Olly.

The Kidfix III M car seat is a Group 2/3 approved seat which allows for forward facing travels. The seat is a highback booster car seat and can be used for children who weigh 15kg or more up to the maximum weight of approximately 36kg (12 years old). The seating area is 20% longer than any of the other similar car seat models making it a more comfortable seat.

When I first got it out of the box, one of the things I noticed was how light it was. It only weighs 7.5kg which is practically nothing when you’ve been carrying around an 8 month old baby in his car seat! It’s lightweight so can be easily transported between different cars and can be used with just the inbuilt car belt or using it’s isofix points plus the car seat belt.

I love isofix, every car seat we own uses isofix and it just gives me that little extra peace of mind. I like to know that the boys car seats are anchored into the main chassis of the car and if anything bad happened, the car seats aren’t going anywhere!

The Kidfix III M car seat combines proven safety features; SICT (advanced side impact protection in case of a side collision) and SecureGuard which helps to protect the child’s delicate abdominal area by adding an extra contact to the existing 3-point seat belt. This is a new feature that Olly hasn’t used before but he hasn’t complained about it.

The padded headrest on the Kidfix III M is easily adjusted, is it just my child who seems to grow taller throughout the week? What I particularly like about the headrest is that it’s designed for older children so that when they’re strapped in, it’s ergonomically designed to support the child’s head, especially when they fall asleep (which whilst is rare in our car, it can happen!)

The V shaped backrest allows the child to grow into the seat. As they get older, their shoulders will get broader and the Kidfix III M car seat allows for this. I think this is a brilliant feature considering that once you’ve bought a car seat for the Group 2/3 stage, you’ll probably want to keep it for years to come.

We’ve recently been trying out this car seat too, and have been really impressed with it. I love the seat belt positioner, adds that extra bit of safety and comfort. Thanks for linking up with #TriedTested
