The Me and Mine Project // January 2018

January has been a fantastic month for our family. It was the month when three became four as we welcomed our beautiful baby boy Freddie into the family on the 9th January. We spent the first few days of January enjoying the post-Christmas / New Year come down, there were lazy pyjama days and a rather nice slow paced start to the year. Unfortunately Olly came down with tonsillitis so missed the start of the new school year and then before we knew it, it was time to welcome our little Freddie.

January 2018 Me and Mine

Our first family photograph as a family of four

Here’s what we have enjoyed throughout January

This month, Mummy has;

  • fallen in love with the latest Shilton; Freddie Benjamin, our perfect little poppet and feels like the luckiest Mummy in the world
  • felt very grateful for the fantastic service from the NHS; the support I received whilst in hospital for my elective c-section was incredible.
  • officially started her maternity leave from her HR job.
  • enjoyed the peace and quiet whilst we adjust to family life with a newborn. Those first few weeks are so precious.
  • loved seeing both her boys together, enjoying cuddles and getting to know each other.
  • been discharged from the midwife

This month, Olly has;

  • really settled well back into school. He’s had two new teachers and a new LSP this term and they have been so brilliant with him. We’ve had far less tears in the morning before school and he’s coming on in leaps and bounds.
  • enjoying playing with all his new toys that he had for Christmas. Lego and Playmobil have been a huge hit!
  • loved playing Cars 3 Driven to Win on the PS4.
  • had his first ever sleepover at his Nanny and Grandad’s house whilst Mummy was in hospital.
  • become a BIG brother and is taking to his new role really well.

This month, Freddie has;

  • become the littlest Shilton, our last piece to our family puzzle
  • passed his hearing test
  • been registered and is now official
  • been discharged from the midwife
  • met and been discharged from the paedetric team
  • enjoyed snuggles with the family
  • enjoyed then hated his first bath

This month, Daddy has;

  • loved being on paternity / annual leave from work for 3 weeks
  • become partial to daytime tv, in particular Ripoff Britain and Homes Under the Hammer
  • enjoyed sleeping over at the hospital to support Mummy and spend precious time with Freddie
  • had his first alcoholic drink since mid-December (he was on a self-imposed drinking ban just in case Freddie arrived early) and apparently it was good!
  • been a total rock to Mummy and has made sure she hasn’t lifted a finger in the house, he’s a very good egg!

We’ve also had a blog header refresh as the lovely Emma from Daydreams and Icecreams has worked her magic and weaved our little Freddie into it.

February is another exciting month for us as our biggest boy turns FIVE, there’s a half-term school holiday and we’re going to make the most of the school holidays now I’m off on maternity leave. Have a lovely February folks!
