If your children are anything like my four and a half year old, their Christmas wish lists for this year will have already been written, added to, scrapped and re-written ready to send to Father Christmas. One item on the wish list that always stays at the top every time the list is re-written is a scooter. Olly had a small scooter when he was a toddler but quickly outgrew it and we’ve never had the opportunity to replace it. Until now.
Christmas has definitely come early this week as Olly has been sent the most brilliant early Christmas gift. He’s been sent an Electric Scooter courtesy of Halfords Kids Zone. Halfords know that young children have a passion for adventure and exploring the great outdoors and that scooters, bikes and trikes are high on their wish lists at Christmas to help them accomplish all those important missions. Their kids zone is a useful resource for parents like me to get the lowdown on the latest toys for Christmas. It’s a good job Halfords know their stuff as there are so many bikes and scooters to choose from and who knew that not all bikes are suitable for every child!
The Halfords Kids Zone is also a great place to pick up hints and tips for little ones learning to ride as well as a useful guide into how to pick the right bike for your child.
Olly has been sent the Zinc Volt XT Electric Scooter to try out and it is so much fun! The scooter is suitable for children aged 5 to 7 so perfect for next years adventures that Olly will no doubt be going on. It’s always an idea to plan ahead with big purchases as children grow so quickly!
The scooter has twist ‘n’ go acceleration as well as a gear box and rear footbrake. The 12V battery lets users reach speeds of up to 6 mph and having supervised Olly playing on his scooter over the park this week, that’s pretty fast for such small children! Of course, if you don’t want to use the battery, the scooter can be used as a conventional inline scooter. The battery is easy to maintain and once fully charged the electric scooter will run for one hour.
With anything new, Olly has found scooting rather difficult this week. The electric scooter is powerful but brilliant and so we’ll be getting Olly a helmet to wear for whenever he’s on his scooter. He’s got plenty of room to grow into his scooter as he still looks a little small when using it. There’s plenty of time for him to get to grips with it but so far he is loving it and can’t wait to visit the park again to practice some more.
What Olly loves about his scooter
- The electric scooter is fast!
- The colour is ‘cool’
- He can use it without the battery if he’s not feeling brave enough to use it as an electric scooter.
No doubt Olly will be getting in all the practice he can over the next few months on his scooter and it’s a great way for him to get outside and get some fresh air away from the binds of his tablet and the television.
