Thomas and Friends™ Super Station // Review

If there’s ever a toy that you know will go down well with a Thomas the Tank Engine mad four year old, it’s the Thomas and Friends™ Super Station. Olly was recently sent the Super Station to review and to say he is pleased with it, is an understatement, it is fantastic!

Thomas and Friends Super Station track set

The Thomas and Friends™ Super Station is compatible with all the Thomas and Friends engines, TrackMaster, Adventures, MINIS and wooden tracks so can be used alongside all the Thomas and Friends toys you may already own. We have lots of compatible pieces already so adding all this to the Super Station makes it a huge track set to play with. There’s hours of fun and the possibilities of track combinations and adventures to play on the Island of Sodor are endless.

What’s inside the box?

The Thomas and Friends™ Super Station not only comes with a Thomas & Friends TrackMaster Thomas, his friends Adventures Percy, MINIS James and Plastic Harold, it comes with 10 iconic locations including Tidmouth Sheds, Brendam Docks, Knapford Station, the Sodor Steamworks, the Dieselworks and Blue Mountain Quarry.

Included in the box is over 35 feet (10 metres) of track, track adapter to connect to Thomas & Friends™ Adventures, TrackMaster™ and Wooden Railway play sets, legs to raise tracks up to the Sheds, the Sodor Search & Rescue Centre helipad for Harold to land on and a turntable complete with stop-track lever. There’s also Cranky the Crane with a cargo lift which you can pull up and down and spin it around.

Multiple track layouts

There are so many options for the track layout and it really is up to you how you want to design the track to play with. There’s a Racetrack layout so children can race the engines down the long track to the bottom and also the Dual Racetrack layout which lets you race side-by-side for hours of fun. Of course if you team it up with the compatible track sets, you could make a huge track.

You can also set up the track so it’s in a micro layout (with the legs removed) for where you don’t have much space. Currently, we have set up the Super Station in Olly’s bedroom for now as we have limited space elsewhere in our home which has limited our track set up. For the purpose of this review, we have set the track up with the pieces that were in the box as not to confuse you with what’s included.

The set has storage room for over 100 engines (sold separately) and we love that you can hang the MINI trains off the edge of the set by their connectors. All the legs can be used as tunnels or cargo bins so it really can take a different shape every single day.

Adaptable for multi-level play

The Thomas and Friends™ Super Station is a large toy set but it can be adapted to suit the space you have in your home. Olly has not yet let us change the set up of the Super Station as he just loves playing with it in its current formation. The set is suitable for children aged 3 years plus and adult supervision is required when setting it up.

Thomas and Friends Super Station track set

The Thomas Super Station has an RRP of £129.99 but it’s currently on offer with Smyths at £99.99. Perfect to add to the Christmas shopping list for all those Thomas mad little ones! Olly has loved playing with the Super Station and no doubt will be asking us to add a few more engines to his Christmas list this year.

Disclosure: We were sent the set above in exchange for this review. All words and images (and messy bedrooms) are our own!

This looks amazing! My 6 yr old would love it. Sadly though, they play less and less with the Thomas toys they already have!
