Once you start redecorating a room in your home, you realise how much the rest of the house needs doing. Our bathroom is in need of a lot of love. It was decorated when we moved in and we’ve pretty much left it bar a few decorative additions to the walls and floor. Although we need to completely renovate our bathroom structural improvements to the back wall and a whole new bathroom suite, this is likely to cost a whole lot more money than we have readily available. So imagine my delight when Carpetright got in touch a couple of months ago and asked us if we’d like to complete a monochrome bathroom makeover on a budget with the addition of some of their beautiful vinyl flooring. Of course, I said yes and now the mini makeover is complete I’m delighted with it.
Our bathroom flooring before the makeover was rather dull. It was vinyl flooring with a wood effect pattern and didn’t really have much wow factor. Our new bathroom flooring from Carpetright is absolutely stunning. We chose the Mardi Gras 599 Sagres Vinyl which has a bold statement pattern. It’s ideal for our bathroom, which is a huge space and really gives the bathroom a bit of wow. I wasn’t sure how my husband would take the new look floor but he agrees with how brilliant it looks and is amazed at how the space has been transformed.
The flooring was delivered and fitted by Carpetright and we were really impressed with how quickly the fitter was able to lay the floor and seal it too. He finished the job in less than an hour and it looks brilliant, we’re so impressed with how it looks.
To complete the monochrome look, we replaced the blind at the window with a grey sheer blind. We replaced the picture frames on the walls with black and white versions instead of wooden ones. We added monochrome accessories; a new white shower curtain, grey waste bin, toilet brush, grey washing basket and white handsoap dispenser and added a few other decorative touches to the room. I think the whole room makeover excluding the flooring was less than £100. Budget decorating at its best!
Aside from the floor, the other change we made in the bathroom was to paint the blue tiles on the walls black. I didn’t fancy trying to pull the tiles off the wall to replace them so tried my hand at painting the tiles with a special tile paint instead. I am so impressed with how they have come out. If you’re looking to paint tiles in your kitchen or bathroom, definitely give it a go!
Our bathroom monochrome makeover is now complete. It’s transformed our tired looking bathroom into one that now has the wow factor and hasn’t cost us the earth to achieve the look. I’ll be adding more little decorative touches here and there in the bathroom as the month goes on but for now, I’m so pleased with it. The room looks bright and airy with a fantastic striking flooring which is easy to clean and very soft to walk on.
Just for comparison, here’s our how our bathroom looked before the makeover and tidy up.
And here’s how the bathroom looks now..
With huge thanks to Carpetright for working with us on this bathroom makeover, we are so very impressed with the flooring. It’s just so beautiful, we love it!
