The Christmas tree is up, the hunt is on for the last few perfect gifts and there’s only a couple of Saturdays left before the big day which if you’re anything like me, means you’ll be out trawling the shops with the children in tow to get all the shopping done for Christmas.
I always like to shop locally if I can so when I was recently invited with the family to New Square West Bromwich to visit their Santa’s Grotto, it meant I could finish off a bit of Christmas shopping, entertain my three year old and skip the washing up and go to one of the restaurants for dinner, it was a bit of a win win situation.
The festive spirit is certainly upon New Square West Bromwich with it’s bright and colourful Christmas lights, they have the most amazing disco ball Christmas Tree and Santa’s Grotto for the children, it looks really festive especially once it’s fallen dark.
From now until the 24th December, Santa’s Grotto is open daily between 12pm – 6pm. Prices are relatively low (from £5 each) and this includes a gift for the visiting child. Children can also get a photograph with Santa for an extra £2. I love that every entry fee includes a donation to Sandwell’s Children’s Ward. What better way to support a good cause with a visit to see Santa.
We popped down to the Grotto on Friday afternoon and Olly loved the grotto. All festively decorated with a Rudolph pulling sleigh perfect for photographs and the biggest teddy bear we have ever seen inside the grotto.
Olly got to meet Santa and it was a really lovely meeting. Santa asked Olly lots of questions and was very engaging, talking to him about going to bed early on Christmas Eve and asking him if he was on the good list. He gave Olly an age appropriate gift and Olly was very excited to receive it.
Olly had his photograph taken with Santa and he was given this to take home. It was presented in a Christmas card with an envelope which was a lovely keepsake for Olly.
We finished off our evening with a family meal at Nandos, Olly loves chicken and rice so we knew that everyone would be happy with the menu.
We had a really enjoyable meal in Nandos. There was a really relaxed atmosphere in the restaurant and the service was impressive. The food was really delicious; Olly ate his grilled chicken, spicy rice and some chips, my husband enjoyed his butterfly chicken with spicy rice and macho peas and I really liked my chicken pitta with pineapple. We will definitely be going back to eat there sometime soon.
Our evening at West Bromwich New Square was really enjoyable. We managed to tick off buying a few more family Christmas gifts thanks to the brilliant prices at The Entertainer, Olly met Santa and we all came home full as a bean. I’d definitely recommend heading down to West Bromwich if you’re local to catch up on your Christmas shopping.
