As an imaginative three year old, Olly is really into role play at the moment so when Smoby offered to send him some Bob the Builder toys to review, he was really excited and couldn’t wait to get to work. We were sent a huge bundle of the latest toys from Smoby and Olly has been putting them through their paces over the last couple of weeks.
We were sent the Bob the Builder workbench, Bob the Builder Dress Up Set, Chainsaw, Jigsaw and Tool Bag. All the items work brilliantly together and Olly has been having a great time playing with the tools.
The Bob the Builder workbench was the main part of the bundle and would be a great main present for any budding construction worker. The workbench took my husband a good half an hour to put together as it has many parts. Top tip – put the workbench up without children around, Olly kept interfering and moving small parts which wasn’t helpful. There’s a set of stickers to adhere to the workbench too which give it the Bob the Builder branding.
The workbench comes with over 30 tools and accessories including screws, a saw, hammer and construction pieces which have kept Olly occupied for ages. He’s loved hammering the screws into the workbench and using the tools.
The Bob the Builder Jigsaw and Chainsaw are brilliant like-life toys with realistic noises and they’re a great size for pre-schoolers. They are both electronic toys (batteries were included) and the jigsaw even had a light that came on when in use.
We were also sent the Bob the Builder toolbag which is a brilliant little backpack for little ones. Olly immediately took all the tools out the bag and put them onto his workbench and then put the backpack on his back.
Olly was also sent the Dress Up Set which I wasn’t sure he would wear but he surprised me and wanted to wear the outfit straight away. The dress up set comes with Bob’s famous checked shirt and work vest which is easily put on with Velcro fastenings. Olly is currently wearing clothes aged 3-4 and there’s plenty of room in the shirt to pop it over the top of his clothes.
Safety first – the set also comes with Bob’s trademark yellow hard hat which has adjustable fastenings to suit the sizing of your child’s head. Olly must have a huge head as we had to remove this adjustable fastening and use the hat without it in which worked fine.
Olly really loves the Bob the Builder toys from Smoby. He’s had great fun (pretending to) cut up all my furniture around the house and build a tree house for our back yard. He’s also made me a wonderful coffee table (wink wink!). If you’ve got a Bob the Builder fan in the house, they will really love these toys. The Bob the Builder range from Smoby is available in all good toy shops.
Disclosure: We were sent the above toys in exchange for this honest review.
