The Sleep Tight All Night Puppy // Review (AD)

If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you’ll know that sleep and my three year old Son aren’t the best of friends. It’s been a turbulent relationship between them both so far and unfortunately, it’s something my husband and I have had to learn to cope with over the last three years. There are often nights of disturbed sleep with the onset of sleep deprivation all too noticeable on our faces come morning so when Golden Bear got in touch and asked us if we’d like to test out one of their latest products designed to aid better sleep for children we hastily agreed.

Golden Bear Toys Sleep Tight All Night Puppy

Sleep Tight All Night is a versatile 4 in 1 product that is designed to not only aid better sleep for children but can also be played with during the day providing reassurance and comfort. We were sent the Puppy version to review but the product is also available as Iggle Piggle, a unicorn and a teddy bear.

At first glance the puppy is adorable. It’s a soft squishy cuddly dog that is really cute. On closer inspection, the puppy has an opening underneath where the sleep aid is stored. The sleep aid is a battery operated system that is based on scientific research. This research suggests that coloured light (blue, green and white light) have been shown to inhibit the production of the sleep hormones melatonin. The research also suggests that red, pink and orange lights don’t inhibit this and can assist in getting children to go back to sleep.

With the use of the coloured bulb, the sleep aid trains children when it is time to sleep and when it is time to get up. Parents can alter the timings via the buttons on the back of the aid to completely suit their children’s napping or sleeping times. There’s a range of five soothing sounds which can help children drift off to sleep and if the puppy’s tummy is squeezed during the night it will softly glow red teaching children they must stay in bed. When the puppy’s tummy is squeezed when the pre-set time has elapsed the toy will glow green and therefore an indicator that the child can get up.

How Olly found it

Initially Olly took to the cuddly puppy really well. He welcomed him into his bed and the puppy sat next to him for a few nights before we introduced the light feature. Luckily for us, we’ve only had to encourage Olly to press the puppy’s tummy during the night on one occasion, unless he’s used it in the night without us knowing, we’re not sure! He drifted back off to sleep without much fuss so we’re not sure whether it was a complete one-off or the puppy worked. I’d like to think the puppy helped for the purpose of this review but I’m not entirely sure, I’m just grateful for the sleep!

The Sleep Tight All Night puppy is suitable for babies aged 12 months plus and can be used for children up to the age of 6 or 7. Personally, I don’t think older children will take to it as easily as babies but that’s just because Olly is really inquisitive and will try and take out the sleep aid from the Puppy’s tummy to mess with the settings so older children may do just the same. For use with younger children, I think it would be much more successful.

The Sleep Tight All Night puppy is available from Golden Bear Toys for £29.99.

I really like the idea if this, the coloured lights are interesting. Piglet has a bunny nightlight that sits on the side which cycles through the same colours.

Oh we have the puppy too, I think it’s really cute! I was hoping Lia would use it but in the end it was Libby that really took to it and she sleeps with it in her bed every night. Ours is called Nigel.
