Keep your children safe with Fireman Sam’s Safety Month

With bonfire night less than a couple of weeks away, fireworks will soon be filling the skies with their bright and colourful displays so it’s more important than ever to remind folk to stay safe and to introduce little ones to fire safety awareness.

Fireman Sam's Safety Month

It’s Fireman Sam’s safety month and everyone’s favourite fireman is raising awareness to teach little ones the dangers of fireworks and bonfires. It’s really important to teach them the dangers at an early age as they often don’t know how dangerous fireworks can be. Fireman Sam is known for protecting the public and staying calm in an emergency and these life lessons will stick with little ones and help to protect them from harm.

Fireman Sam’s Top Tips

Fireman Sam has shared these top tips for parents, which serve as a useful reminder for anyone attending a fireworks or bonfire party;

1)            Light fireworks at arm’s length and NEVER go back to a lit firework.

2)            Always keep children a safe distance from fireworks.

3)            Keep well away from bonfires and ensure that children are supervised at all times. Pets are best kept indoors.

4)            Always wear gloves when handling sparklers and hold at arm’s length. Once finished, put in a bucket of water.

5)            Finally, ensure you attend a well-organised fireworks display!

Fireman Sam and his friends in Pontypandy have released a series of safety videos which are a great way to introduce the importance of fire safety to little ones. They won’t think they’re being taught anything as the videos are fun but educational.

Olly is only three and is already quite wary of fireworks. He likes to watch them from afar but isn’t a fan of the loud noises and bangs that you often hear from them. We’ve been watching these safety videos over the last couple of days and Olly has been telling me all about the tips he’s picked up from the videos.

You can see one of Fireman Sam’s bonfire night safety tips below;

If you’re attending a fireworks event over the next few weeks, please do keep yourself and the children safe and remember Fireman Sam’s top tips to fire safety.

Disclosure: We are happy to support Fireman Sam’s Safety Month and have received a bundle of Fireman Sam goodies to promote the importance of staying safe over the next few weeks.

    Jaxon is off to his first proper fireworks display on Saturday. I’ve ordered him a set of ear defenders and we keep watching the Bing episode where Sula wears ear defenders and Bing ends up with oven mitts on his ears to try and convince Jaxon to wear his when they arrive!
