The Octonauts are one of Olly’s favourite television programmes on CBeebies. He loves to follow the undersea adventures of Kwazii, Captain Barnacles and their friends and asks his Grandparents to record it so he can watch it on catch up when he’s ever round their house. Fisher Price recently offered to send Olly the Octonauts Remote Control Gup-K aquatic vehicle to test out and it’s been a big hit in our house.
The Octonauts Gup Toy set includes the Gup-K vehicle, a remote control, a Captain Barnacles figure (others are sold separately), two removable swamp speeders, a water cannon, water dart and a baby alligator. Although the adventures of the Octonauts are to underwater based, the Gup-K is intended for use on dry land (or for exploring imaginary swamps).
The toy needs two sets of batteries; 4 x AA plus 2 x AAA (which are not included) so you’d need to stock up on these if your little ones wanted to play with the toy straight away. Once the batteries are inserted, the toy is good to go.
Olly has really loved playing with the remote control Gup-K. The vehicle can be controlled to move forwards and backwards with the remote control and it’s got some power in it as my toes found out. When the Gup-K is in motion, the jaws of the vehicle open and close imitating a crocodile munching on the swamp debris. The swamp speeders are removable and can be used imaginatively during play for rescue missions and exploratory trips around the area. The water dart can be used to put out any fires and is released by pressing a small button on the side of the jet.
The Gup-K is really responsive to the remote control and Olly has really enjoyed making the vehicle spin around and go off on missions around the house. It’s a well made durable toy which is what I would expect from Fisher Price toys.
The Fisher Price Octonauts Remote Control Gup-K toy is currently priced at £39.99 and would make a great gift for any Octonauts fan for a birthday or Christmas gift.
