As my three year old gets older, his love for Thomas and Friends gets stronger. He’s such a trains fan so when Fisher Price sent us their latest toy train set to review he was so excited and couldn’t wait to have a play.
He was recently sent the Fisher Price Thomas and Friends Minis Motorised Raceway and he has loved it. I’ll admit, it took me ages to set it up. Even following the colourful step by step instructions didn’t help me but after 20 minutes, the train set was set up and ready for the mini trains to play on it. The set comes with two mini train engines; Thomas and James and we were also sent another set of mini trains to add to the fun.
The motorised raceway is great fun. The engines begin under the tunnel and then climb up the vertical lift to the top of the track where there are three different paths for the engines to choose from. By hand, move the lever to choose whichever path you fancy sending them down and watch them roll.
There are three different paths for the Thomas and Friends minis to roll down. There’s the water track where engines will glide down the waterfall and do a 360 degree loop which is a definite pre-schooler pleaser. Olly really enjoyed sending the engines down this route and was his favourite of the three. The next route looks like it’s a broken piece of track but the engines will delicately balance on the track and make it back round again. The third route is an inverted sky track where engines will get the ride of their lives by swooping along upside down.
Cranky the Crane also gets in on the action by lending a helping hand to any engines feeling the fear on the tracks. Olly has loved leaving a train or two hanging from the crane whilst the other engines ride the tracks.
The Fisher Price Thomas and Friends Minis Motorised Raceway is currently priced at £35.99 with Argos and would make a perfect gift for Christmas. It’s worth noting it requires 3 AA batteries (not included) and is suitable for children aged 3 plus due to small parts.
We were also sent a copy of the latest feature length movie, Thomas and Friends: The Great Race to watch and Olly has loved it. He has had it on in the background whilst he’s been playing with his motorised raceway.
The movie sets the scene with The Great Railway Show where all the best engines come together to compete. Gordon beats Thomas to represent Sodor which leaves Thomas really disappointed but when Gordon gets into trouble, Thomas is called upon to save the day. It’s a great action-packed film where Thomas and his friends show that friendship is key.
The Thomas and Friends: The Great Race DVD is currently available from Amazon at just £5.99 and would make a great gift or stocking filler for a Thomas mad little one.
