As it’s the summer holidays, we’ve been very roughly meal planning for our evening meals throughout the week but after facing the music at weigh in on Tuesday last week I decided to really get my act together and start meal planning properly.
Meal planning really works for us. Both my husband and I work during the week with only Fridays off for me so we need to know what ingredients we have in the fridge for our evening meals for when we get home. We usually plan around our evening commitments and we always usually have to compromise over meals as one of us fancies something over another meal.
We meal plan from a huge stash of magazines, recipe books and instagram and try and use up the array of tins and packets in the cupboards as well as using up any frozen meats we may have in the freezer. Meal planning lets me feel in control and when you’re dieting, you need to be in control of what you’re eating. Most of these meals are synfree which on the SW plan is pretty good meaning I have daily syns left over for a little treat once Olly’s gone to bed.
Here’s what’s on the meal planning menu in our house this week;
Diet Coke Chicken with savoury rice
Chilli Chicken in lettuce wraps
SW burgers with actifry potatoes and salad
Synfree Chicken chow mein with noodles
Chicken curry with basmati rice
On reflection, there’s a lot of chicken on the menu but it works in our house. Both my husband and little boy love chicken so whilst the little one doesn’t always have the same meal as us, we can use the same meat and he can eat with us too.
We have a family day out planned at the weekend so we’ll be taking packed lunches and will find somewhere SW friendly to eat dinner. I’m hoping we’ll get lots of walking in if it’s a nice day. Seriously, August has been so unpredictable this month.
What are you eating this week? Do you have anything nice planned?
