Buying back to school shoes with Debenhams

In September, I’ll be a mum taking on the school run. Olly’s off to pre-school for five mornings through the week and he’s got to wear a very smart and adorable looking school uniform. The jumpers have been ordered, the rest of the uniform is purchased and we were asked by Debenhams to check out their back to school shoes.

The back to school footwear range has been in Debenhams stores since before the Summer so last month we took a visit to our local store within the Bull Ring, Birmingham to take a look.

There was a small range of school shoes on display for both girls and boys but unfortunately there wasn’t much choice in Olly’s size. Olly tried on one pair of shoes but they didn’t fit so we decided to take a look online instead.

After browsing the Debenhams website, we found a pair of shoes that Olly liked. We had heard from pre-school that they prefer pre-schoolers to wear shoes with Velcro straps so they can be easily taken off and on again.

We ordered Olly’s size and waited for the postman. After an unforeseen delay, the school shoes were delivered and Olly got to try his new shoes on.

Debenhams Chipmunks Shoes

The shoes Olly will be wearing in September are made by Chipmunks and they’re black leather with an adjustable velcro strap. The soles are rubber so I’m hoping they will withstand all the playing and running around that Olly will do in the school playground.

The shoes are made from leather and feature a textured toe guard offering a scuff proof section at the front of the shoe. I am fully expecting them to transform in appearance over the term but I’m hoping they’ll stay as smart as they look now at least for a couple of months. Who knows? I’m in completely new school shoe territory here as a new school Mama.

The Chipmunk shoes are available to buy from Debenhams and are priced at just £20.

Disclosure: We were sent a voucher to order the school shoes as part of this feature. All words and photographs are my own.

Oh I like those shoes and it’s great that the school are practical enough to suggest that pre-schoolers wear velcro.

We always go to Startriteshoes.com to get our kids school shoes now; they have an ethos that is centred on maintaining children’s foot health. I wore the wrong kind of shoes as a child and still have no end of issues so it’s worth looking after our little ones feet!
