Shark Vacuum Review | NV680UKT Lift-Away Powered Vacuum

Being a working Mummy and juggling what seems like far too many plates, I don’t get much time for the household chores. Much to my annoyance, our house isn’t very tidy at the moment (life as a blogger) but it is on the whole clean and that is down to cleaning on the go during our evenings at home and then having a deep clean on my day off. When I do get round to vacuuming the house and cleaning the floors, I like to be really thorough and do a good job. We were recently sent the Shark NV680UKT upright bagless vacuum cleaner to review and as vacuums go, it’s a pretty good one.

Great features

The Shark NV680UKT vacuum cleaner is a great option for those who like their vacuum to do more than just hoover the floors. The Shark comes with plenty of accessories to make this a great all-in-one dust remover whether that’s on the floor or on the ceiling.

It was relatively easy to put together, here’s what came in the box;

Shark vacuum

The Shark NV680UKT vacuum cleaner is unlike any other vacuum I’ve used before. It has the patented Shark Powered Lift-Away pod which lets you lift off the lightweight detachable pod allowing it to be used with the hose in all those hard to reach places. This vacuum is perfect for cleaning under furniture and up the stairs. With the Lift-Away pod attached to the main unit, you can use the vacuum as a traditional upright vacuum. You can also detach the hose and use it with the main unit.

British Allergy Foundation certified

I am a huge fan of bagless vacuums. The Shark has anti-allergen complete seal technology which manages to capture and hold onto 99.9% of allergens and dust inside the vacuum. This is something that has excited me as my family have a lot of dust allergies and both my husband and I suffer from hayfever and an allergy to dogs so having a vacuum that can contain all the dust and keep it there instead of in the air is great. This feature has been certified by the British Allergy Foundation so it’s good to know it has the experts backing. The vacuum also features a no touch dustcup which is quick and easy to use.

Advanced swivel steering but heavy

The Shark NV680UKT has an advanced swivel steering action which helps to manoeuvre the vacuum around corners and around furniture. It is incredible easy to steer although it’s rather heavy when using the vacuum as a whole unit instead of in Lift-Away mode. Both my sister and I have used the vacuum and both of us found it hard to push and steer compared to previous vacuums we have used.

When using the vacuum in the upright mode, there’s an LED light on the front to help spot concealed dust. It’s a great feature of the vacuum if not a little alarming when you see all the dust you didn’t think was there!

The handle of the vacuum has a rubberised grip which makes it a great hold and you can tell a lot of thought has gone into it as it’s ergonomically designed for regular use. Also on the handle is a one-touch finger tip control which lets you easily switch between carpet and hard floor cleaning modes, a welcome addition when vacuuming around my home as our kitchen is vinyl, dining room has carpet and my hall floors are laminate. I can easily switch between the modes whilst taking advantage of the different functions and getting the most out of the vacuum.

There’s a great range of accessories that come with the Shark; a dual-purpose hose and wand, combined crevice tool/dusting brush, and a stiff bristle brush/upholstery tool. As with most vacuums, the Shark has on board accessory storage so you can have all the tools to do the various jobs around the home. I’m sure I’m not alone when saying we use the vacuum for not only floors but for walls, skirting boards, removing cobwebs and all those other hard to reach places where dust gathers.

Shark vacuum review

The Shark NV680UKT vacuum includes an exclusive dust-away attachment which is designed for hard floor cleaning. Again this is perfect for vinyl and laminate flooring where pet hair gathers and can be easily cleaned up.

I really love the features that the Shark vacuum has. I love the hard floor and carpet modes and the detachable pod is a fantastic feature which means I can reach under tables, our beds and around suite in the bathroom. The only downside for me, is how heavy the vacuum is when using it as a whole unit on the carpet or for vacuuming large spaces of floor. It’s like a mini workout. Luckily for me, our house isn’t that big so it doesn’t take very long but this is something that you should consider if your house is any bigger than my two up two down terrace.

The Shark Powered Lift Away NV680UK is currently in the sale priced at £199.99 over on the Shark website.

    Ooh my husband would love this, he’s a bit of a vacuum guru. We’ve got the Dyson one for pet hair at the moment, but we’ve got some carpet tiles in the children’s room and it doesn’t seem to like those, so I’m wondering if it might be time for a replacement.

    Shark vacuums are great! My best vacuum from Shark is the Shark Navigator Pro Lift-Away. Its 2 in 1 (upright and canister) it works well on hard floors, carpets, stairs and pet hair . It is also ideal for delicate surfaces like curtains, cushions, glass shelves, and lamp shades. I have been using it for 9 months now and its still in good condition!
