The new pre-schooler magazine, Bing

*This is a collaborative post

There’s a brand new magazine for pre-schoolers hitting the shelves, the Bing magazine is here. We were recently sent a copy of the first ever issue and my three year old Olly has loved reading it and working through the magazine.

Bing magazine

Olly is a huge fan of children’s magazines. He loves the magazines with familiar characters so I knew the Bing magazine would be a hit. He’s a big Bing fan.

Published by Egmont, the magazine is issued monthly at a price of £3.99 which is pretty standard for full colour magazines. The issue we were sent had a free gift on the front which was a soft plastic frog with a plastic watering can and Bing themed gardening tools.

Free Gifts

The first issue of the magazine has a playing outside theme throughout with plenty of activities for youngsters to do. The pages are full colour with spaces for encouraging writing and pencil control, placing stickers throughout the magazine and colouring in. Olly loved looking at all his favourite characters including Bing, Sula, Flop and Charlie to name just a few.

Colouring in with Bing

What I really like as a parent with the Bing magazine is that it’s based on the Early Years Curriculum. My three year old can enjoy the magazine whilst subconsciously learning some of the essential skills from the curriculum; finding out (exploring, asking and answering questions) literacy, numeracy and creativity. The activities are short and designed to hold a pre-schoolers attention for a short amount of time which in my experience is how my three year old learns best. They can dip in and out of the magazine and get something new from it each time.

I also like that whilst the magazine is aimed at pre-schoolers, there’s tips and ideas within the magazine for grown ups called ‘It’s a Bing thing’ This section encourages conversation, getting your ‘bingsters’ active and encourages pre-schoolers to think about their favourite things.

Its a Bing Thing

We’ve created a short video reviewing the Bing magazine and it’s safe to say it’s been a huge hit with my three year old.

If you’ve got a Bing fan at home, they will love the Bing magzine. The new Bing magazine is out to buy in shops now.

Eek, I’m really not a fan of Bing. I prefer the idea of the magazine rather than the children’s tv programme though, maybe the magazine could replace the tv programme??
