Last weekend we had the pleasure of staying at the Worsley Park Marriott Hotel and Country Club in Greater Manchester. It was a twenty minute drive from the city centre where I had spent the day at Blog On, the north west’s only blogging conference so the perfect distance away from the hustle and bustle of the city but close enough to enjoy the family friendly attractions of Manchester.
When we first arrived, we were wowed by how nice the hotel grounds looked. The hotel is set in 200 acres of parkland complete with its own 18-hole championship golf course and having walked around the grounds it was clear to see that it was very well kept. A very relaxing space which was lovely to enjoy on a dry sunny evening.
After checking in, we made our way to our room and was delighted to see that we had been given a family room with two double beds in. As a parent of a wriggly three year old, I was so pleased that Olly could sleep in a double bed without the fear of him rolling out of bed and waking us all up.
Good sized family room
The rooms at Worsley Park Marriott Hotel are rather elegant and of a good size. Even though the room was pretty full with furniture, it wasn’t cramped and was a good size for a family of three. There was tea and coffee making facilities with a good stash of coffee and tea bags as well as a couple of biscuits which hubby may have sampled.
The bathroom was dated but had all the facilities you need when staying in a hotel with clean towels and complimentary toiletries.
Before we put Olly to bed, we decided to test out the room service. I really fancied a hot chocolate and hubby wanted a pint of Guinness so we rang our order through via room service and within ten minutes, our tray of drinks (and a couple of sneaky desserts) made their way into our room.
There was a wedding on at the hotel when we arrived but we found the hotel really quiet. The bedrooms are a good walk away from the reception rooms which was nice as we were able to put Olly to bed without the worry of him being woken up by dance music or party-goers!
Buffet breakfasts for families
After a refreshing nights sleep by all, we made our way down to breakfast in The Dining Rooms, the hotels AA Rosette award-winning restaurant. Breakfast is laid out buffet style with cereals, bread and pastries, juices, tea and coffee available. It was nice to see gluten-free products were also available and labelled as such.
Hot breakfast items were available on the counter and were replenished as we had a look around at what breakfast delights we wanted. There was also a chef on hand to cook fresh omelettes should you want them.
There was also fresh fruit and yogurts along with cooked meats and cheese if you fancied a lighter breakfast option. Children were catered for and highchairs were available for younger guests.
Unfortunately we weren’t able to enjoy the spa or country club facilities as time was against us (seriously, who plans the last Walsall FC home game at midday on a Bank Holiday Monday?) but from what we saw, they looked really nice and the perfect place to relax and unwind.
All the staff we encountered at the Worsley Park Marriott Hotel were friendly and helpful. It’s nice to see staff enjoying their jobs and were more than happy to help us with any queries we had.
We would most definitely return to the hotel allowing plenty of time for a dip in the pool and a round of golf for hubby.
