Review: The brand new tablet app from Sky Kids

Last month, Sky TV launched a brand new tablet app, Sky Kids. The app is purposely designed for children and features all of their favourite shows on demand; think Octonauts, Scooby Doo, Peppa Pig and Paw Patrol to name just a few.

Sky Kids App

The app combines over 4,000 episodes of TV programmes from a range of channels including Disney Junior, Milkshake, Nickjr and CBeebies so there is always something for the kids to watch whether Dad is hogging the sports channels or Mom is catching up with Masterchef, you just need to be connected to the wifi and everyone is happy!

I downloaded the app to pop onto my iPad for Olly to use over our weekends. During the week, there’s no time for him to use the iPad so at the weekend, it’s a bit of a treat for him to use the tablet and catch up on some of his favourite shows.

Child friendly, easy to use app

The Sky Kids app is really easy to use. Once it’s been set up (by an adult) it’s visual menu is easy for little ones to use. Olly instantly recognised the CBeebies logo along with Gigglebiz, Charlie and Lola and Peter Rabbit and was happy to navigate the arrows to find the shows that he wanted to watch.

You can tailor their home page with their name and age, and age appropriate TV shows will be listed and easily accessible for them. I think this is a great feature and I’m not worried that Olly will watch something a little too old for him.

We’ve been using the Sky Kids app for over six weekends now and we love it. We don’t need to worry about putting the TV on or who’s turn it is to watch their TV programme, simply open up the app and watch. It’s great for keeping the kids occupied when you need a little downtime or you want a lazy lie in (I totally do this when Olly wakes us up at 6am on a Sunday morning!)

We were also sent a huge hamper of Paw Patrol goodies for Olly to enjoy and he absolutely loved it. Thank you so much Sky Kids, you really know how to make a kids day!

Sky Kids Hamper

The Sky Kids app is free to download to your tablet (as long as you’re a Sky TV customer) and is available for both Apple and Android tablets. I’d definitely recommend downloading it, it’s one of our favourite apps.

Disclosure: We were sent the hamper with Paw Patrol goodies and access to the Sky Kids app for the purpose of this review, however all words and opinions are my own.
