One of the biggest expenses we have had, aside from buying our home, was the kitchen that we had re-fitted back in 2011. We fell in love with the clever storage spaces from Ikea and loved that we could triple the cupboard space and expand the worktops area. It was a million miles away from the dated 1970’s style kitchen that we had and I couldn’t wait to put our own stamp on it.
Fast forward a few years and we still haven’t finished our lovely kitchen. We laid the floor, painted the walls and put up some chalkboard stickers up on the wall but the majority of the finishing touches are still left to do. It is by far one of the most used rooms in our home so it would be lovely to get it finished off and have one of the rooms in our home complete.
One of the main biggest things we need to do is put some tiles up on the walls between the worktops and the cupboards and put some tiles up as a kitchen splashback around the sink area. It’s not a huge space but one that we haven’t got around to doing as yet.
I’ve spent rather a long time looking at tiles over the last three years and have narrowed down my favourites to my top three;
Metro tiles (blue)
I absolutely love these tiles. These metro tiles are such a beautiful colour and would look great against our dark worktops. I love how they’re slightly rounded and stand away from the wall.
These linear wall tiles are really lovely. It’s a very popular look lately and I can see why. They’re simple and stylish and would make any kitchen look brilliant. I love this shade of grey too. Would work really well with our wooden cupboard doors and dark worktops.
Metro tiles (sage)
I love these tiles and think they’d look great in a country-style kitchen. With sage tiles on the walls, I’d use cream and chrome accessories for a modern yet country kitchen look.
We’d love to finish off the kitchen with some shiny new tiles on the walls. I’d pop up a new blind, treat ourselves to a new kettle and toaster and a couple of prints for the rest of the walls. Oh, I can dream.
Disclosure: This is my entry into the Tile Mountain blogger competition as I’d love to win some new tiles to finish off our kitchen.
