Preparing for Mothers Day with Bullring, Birmingham

Last Sunday, I dragged Olly and my hubby out to the Bullring, Birmingham for a spot of Mothers Day shopping. The Bullring, Birmingham is one of our go-to places when we need to find the perfect gift for that big occasion and with Mothers Day happening here in the UK this Sunday 6th March, we knew we’d be able to find the perfect gifts for our Mums there.

Plenty of inspiration at Bullring, Birmingham

There’s over 160 stores at the Bullring with two major department stores Selfridges and Debenhams at either end of the complex so there’s plenty of inspiration there. We always park in the underground car park which is safe and secure and then make our way from one side of the shopping centre to the other, popping into our favourite shops along the way.

I had an idea of some of the gifts I wanted to get for our Mums whilst Olly and Hubby wanted to have some male-only time without me prying so we headed for some lunch at Cafe Rouge to make our plan of action for our afternoon of shopping.

Free Fizz for Mums at Cafe Rouge on Mothers Day

Cafe Rouge

We were invited for lunch at Cafe Rouge and although we’ve eaten at the chain before, we’ve never eaten at the Bullring restaurant before. We sat inside in the middle of the busy restaurant and we loved the ambiance. Cafe Rouge want to treat all Mums this Mothers Day so they’re offering free fizz for Mums who dine with them on Sunday. What a fabulous treat!

We enjoyed a lovely lunch at the restaurant. Both Hubby and I ordered the same main course ‘Demi Poulet’ as it just sounded delicious (and not too heavy for an afternoon of shopping ahead) and we ordered it with new potatoes, carrots, green beans and a tomato and red onion salad. It was full of flavour and really tasty, we’ll definitely order it again.

Demi Poulet

We really like how family friendly Cafe Rouge are and the Childrens menu which offers a 3 courses and a drink for just £6.95 is a great hit with Olly. He ordered sausage and mash for his main course and a chocolate crepe for dessert. They were perfect sized portions and he really enjoyed them.

Having some Mum time

I was invited to spend some time with the professional make up brand Make Up Forever which is based on the top floor of the Bullring in Debenhams. This was the perfect excuse for the boys to go off shopping and have some quality time together whilst I picked up some make up tips from make up artist, Harriet.

Make Up Forever

After make upI haven’t used Make Up Forever products previously so it was nice to be introduced to the brand and to find out what products they have and how I could use them as part of my make up routine. Make Up Forever are a brand primarily aimed at professional Make Up Artists but their products are now available to the general public who want to use the range.

It took just over half an hour for Harriet to give me a full make over using the Ultra HD, Aqua and Pro Sculpting products on my face. I loved the way she made my eyebrows fuller and the eyeshadow really brought out the colour of my eyes. I don’t really wear much foundation but I was in awe of Harriet as she applied the base and foundation with a brush. These are skills I really should learn!

Overall, I was pleased with my make over but I don’t think I would use as much make up as Harriet applied. I will certainly be popping back to buy the eyebrow pencils though, I really like those.

Buy it in the Bullring

Whilst I was having my pampering treat with Make Up Forever, the boys were off shopping for some treats for Mothers Day. If you haven’t bought anything for your Mum yet, don’t worry the Bullring have it covered. Here’s a couple of ideas from hubby and Olly about what they might (or might not have) bought someone special for Mothering Sunday.

Gift Guide

Boofle cuddly from Clintons / Handwash from Molton Brown / Paperchase stationery available from Selfridges / Daisy Dream Fragrance from Boots / Continental Chocolates from Thorntons

We had a great afternoon at the Bullring. I was especially pleased with my pampering treat and will definitely be back at the Bullring for birthday shopping for someone VIP soon. Don’t forget Mum on Mother’s Day, this Sunday!

Disclosure: Huge thanks to the Bullring for inviting us to enjoy a complimentary meal at Cafe Rouge, my makeover and also the gift card to spend at the Bullring in exchange for this post. All words and images are my own.
