Say it with Steak at Beefeater this Valentines Day | a review

Believe it or not, hubby and I don’t usually eat out very often. It’s usually something we do for a special occasion, a birthday or our anniversary but we were recently invited out to Beefeater to enjoy their Valentines menu.  Whilst we were joined for a very romantic evening out by our toddler, it was a chance for us to take the night off and enjoy good food with good company.

The Duck Beefeater

The Duck Beefeater, Birmingham

We recently visited The Duck, Beefeater restaurant on the Hagley Road in Birmingham. It’s a restaurant we haven’t been to before although we are familiar with the chain. My colleagues at work have often said how nice it is in the restaurant so I was looking forward to spending a nice evening out with my boys.

After looking at the menu, there was plenty to take our fancy. We had skipped lunch to indulge in the menu so we decided to look at starters and mains. Pudding was an option if we had room after our main meals but of course there was always going to be a pudding!

We really like the Beefeater menu. There’s always something that catches our eye and plenty of dishes for sharing if you’re feeling romantic. We were both rather hungry so I ordered the Classic Prawn Cocktail and hubby enjoyed the Potato Dippers with cheese which were enjoyed by all of us as the bowl was filled with delicious potato dippers.

Love the steak

No trip to Beefeater is complete without indulging in a well cooked steak from the menu. I love steak and can enjoy it without guilt on the Slimming World plan. I opted for the 8oz fillet steak which comes with usually comes with unlimited skinny or triple cooked chips but I asked for a jacket potato so I could enjoy my steak without the guilt and stay on plan. The steak was  lean and tender and beautifully cooked.

Hubby ordered the double chicken roast dinner with dauphinoise potatoes and it looked incredible, complete with vegetables and a Yorkshire pudding. I did pinch a roast potato off his plate but if you can’t share your hubby’s roast potato over Sunday dinner when can you?

As we were having such a lovely evening out, we decided to stay for dessert. Hubby couldn’t decide whether to have the Rocky Road Sundae or the Warm Chocolate Brownie so I decided to order a sundae and offered him some of the ice cream. The desserts were delicious. We shared the ice cream and felt extremely indulgent.

Although we took Olly with us for our meal, The Duck Beefeater restaurant is a really lovely venue for couples. It’s modern decor and vibrant ambience is a great place for date night this Valentines Day. The staff were very friendly and engaging and we had a really lovely evening out.

If you love steak too, Beefeater’s Say It With Steak offer (3 courses per person for £19.99) is available from Thursday 11th – Sunday 14th February 2016

I wouldn’t have thought to switch chips for a jacket – such a good idea to stay on plan – and the steak looks lush! x
