If you’re looking for somewhere to take the kids out for a treat this weekend, you really can’t go wrong with Strada. We took Olly, our three year old to enjoy a meal at Strada Birmingham Mailbox.
With it’s prestigious location, the Italian Strada Birmingham Mailbox is an Italian restaurant we wouldn’t have thought to visit with our pre-schooler but we were welcomed by friendly staff and attractive menu options for us all.
Great menu choice for children
This was our first visit to the restaurant chain and we were pleasantly surprised. Strada have a great menu choice for little ones with Ollie the Olive and Penny the Pepper featuring throughout a kids busy pack full of stickers, activity sheets and crayons. Olly was able to choose a starter, main course and dessert from their child friendly menu whilst hubby and I were able to choose our meals from the large menu. There’s also a set menu for the month which is worth looking at if you fancy something on a budget.
Instead of a starter, hubby and I choose to catch up on our day with bread and olives whilst Olly ate some garlic bread with mozzarella. The plate of bread featured different varieties (Ciabatta, focaccia and hand rolled grissini) which were all very moreish and served with green olives, olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
Great varied main menu
The choice of food on the main course menu is varied and caters for all tastes. You really wouldn’t struggle to find something to eat. For our main course, I really fancied pasta. The Italians really know how to do pasta so thought I would enjoy the Pasta Carbonara whilst hubby opted for the 8oz Sirloin Steak which came with a mixed leaf salad and fries.
Olly is a huge pasta fan so I knew immediately that he would want the exact same dish as me so we ordered him the children’s size plate of Pasta Carbonara which when it arrived was a very generous sized portion for a little one.
All our food was absolutely delicious. My pasta was incredible, the crispy pancetta literally melted in my mouth and the sauce was spot on. Hubby’s steak was cooked just how he likes it (medium rare) and it was a really nice cut of meat.
No review meal is complete without testing out the desserts (we’re good like that you know!) and there was no option for hubby as he saw Chocolat Fondant with ice cream on the menu and knew he had to have it.
I fancied the Lemon Ricotta Cheesecake and Olly had a bowl of vanilla ice cream.
The service at Strada Birmingham Mailbox was excellent. Our waitress Tia was attentive and chatted to us all making conversation with Olly which he loved. We really enjoyed our meal and will definitely consider returning to enjoy the yummy authentic Italian cuisine in the near future.
Disclosure: We were invited into Strada for a complimentary meal. All words and images are my own and this forms an honest and reliable review.
