It’s here again, meal planning Sunday and for us it’s the last week of the month before we get paid. We budget for our food shop each week but some months we have to move the finances around to accommodate the hurdles we encounter (hello failed car MOT and broken tumble dryer!
We decided this weekend that we wouldn’t do a full food shop instead opting to top up the fresh fruit and vegetables so that we could use up all the last bits of veg in soups and in the meals we plan to have this week.
Hubby has also decided to embrace what he knows of the Slimming World plan and to start a bit of a health kick. Since hubby’s obstructive sleep apnoea diagnosis a couple of years ago, I’ve been really conscious of his health. I know I’m a fine one to talk with my weight but I wish he had said something to me when my weight got ridiculously high. He would have never said anything to me though as he wouldn’t have wanted to offend me. I’ve always said that weightloss is personal and you have to want to do it for yourself and no-one else so I’m glad he’s made the decision and I’ll support him wholeheartedly.
We both already eat the same evening meals which are all SW friendly so he’s going to be looking at what changes he needs to make to his breakfasts and lunches to adapt to the plan. Hubby has been taking sandwiches to work but he’s going to ditch the bread and kick start his healthier lifestyle by taking my homemade soups to work for lunch instead.
I’m really looking forward to the next few weeks to see how he gets on and I won’t lie I’m looking forward to not seeing his dark chocolate digestives by the side of our bed!
This week we’ll be having;
SW friendly all day breakfast
Sausage, mashed potato and vegetables (SW sausages for me)
Turkey with bacon, lemon and sage, crushed potatoes and green beans
Meatballs, rice and salad
Lunches will be Scotch Broth soup using up all the veg left over from last week and breakfasts will be fruit, yogurts, weetabix or Fruit & Fibre with fruit.
