How to have the perfect pampering hen do

*In collaboration with Jessica Foreman

A hen do is the perfect opportunity for you to get all your favourite girls together and spend some time relaxing with a glass of fizz in hand. Besides the partying that occurs usually in the evening you want to feel pampered on your hen do, it’s when you finally get a chance to discuss all things wedding without actually having to do any plans – instead you’re just getting excited about the imminent big day.

First, don’t plan the whole event yourself. Whether it’s a one day thing or you’re going away for the weekend now is the perfect opportunity to relinquish some responsibility and hand it over to your bridesmaids, much like when you sneakily left your laptop open so your fiancé could look at engagement rings from 77 Diamonds. Let them know what you’d like to do and subtly guide them along.

Start off with accommodation, ensure everyone is happy with the dates and the price before you get started on planning anything else to ensure there are no grumbles or drop outs later.

Plan, plan, plan

An itinerary is also a good idea. A simple excel spreadsheet detailing the times you intend to arrive at places and how long activities will take can help ensure your hen do is less stressful and a more relaxed one.

Plan how you will get to places if you are heading further afield. Does someone need to be an allocated driver or can you use public transport or taxis? Take the stress out of the logistics and your hen do will feel like a truly pampering one.

Relax and enjoy yourself

Onto those said activities, and a pampering hen do wouldn’t be complete without a trip to a spa. Book yourself in for full access to the facilities and if you can afford it, a treatment of some kind, such as a massage or a facial to really pamper yourself. After your trip to the spa you could even head to the nearest nail salon and have a manicure each to really feel spruced up and pampered.

You could also take the opportunity to actually use your hen weekend to detox. There are numerous wellness clinics up and down the UK that allow you to sit back, relax and leave feeling like a whole new person.

Of course, detox does mean no booze but if you and your gal pals aren’t really up for partying all night then this might be a good thing. Plus, you can make a proper holiday of it if you jet off to the highly recommended SHA Wellness Clinic in Spain, which features therapeutic treatments, yoga and even medical consultations.

Why not take this opportunity to gift your bridesmaids with something special for them to wear for the weekend? Some lightweight robes and flip flops are a good idea and you could even look into having them embroidered with their names and a fun phrase such as ‘Team Bride’ or ‘Bridesmaids’.

Have fun

A pampering theme can help ensure your hen do is an especially relaxing one, choose the right activities and ensure everything is planned perfectly beforehand so that your hen do is a pampering, relaxing affair.
