How mobile are you?

As a busy working Mummy I’ll admit that I couldn’t really do without my trusty smart phone by my side. I know how awful that sounds but when I’m at work, it’s key to staying in contact with my boys. It’s my link to my husband when we’re both away from each for over 8 hours a day (and to remind him he needs to buy milk on the way home) my link to my Son who is being cared for by our family and I manage so much of my daily life through this device, it’s really quite scary to think how I would manage without it.

Photographs from my phone

Everyday regular followers will know that I upload photographs of all my meals on Instagram, I take tens of photographs every day. I take snaps of everything, things I want in my home, a top I’ve seen in a shop, a inspiring quote that makes me think and I want to remember when I get home, the moment Olly is laughing his socks off as he’s hiding from me around the corner of the door and then I surprise him and make him jump. I love capturing these moments and they really make me smile to look back on and remember the small things.

I am useless at remembering passwords, dates and very important details which are critical when accessing apps and websites so I have to write down lots of notes (none of which would make sense to anyone else unless anyone wants to read my induction story and which consultant delivered my Son in theatre) but they’re useful prompts to me to allow me to remember some of the important stuff.

I manage a lot of our personal finances on the go using my online banking apps. I like to check that our standing orders and direct debits have gone out of our accounts when they should have and we have money in the account for any other bills. I also use Paypal for online transactions (buying more American based stationery from the USA) and it’s handy to have access to our finances in just a couple of taps on my mobile.

I love social media. I’m a bit of an addict and have to restrict myself from using it throughout the day. When I’m at work, I’ll check my emails during a coffee break or on my lunch and will often respond to emails quickly if I can during this time. I’ll check any notifications and respond if time allows and will often make a note of things to do when I get home so I don’t forget.

If i’m not at home, I can use my mobile to write out and upload a post via the WordPress app and schedule it to share on my social media accounts. I love being able to share photographs, statuses and posts. It makes my life a lot easier when I’m working.

Of course the old fashioned uses for a mobile phone are making phone calls and text messages of which I am shockingly rubbish at replying too. I always used to be so good at replying to them but I leave my phone plugged in during the evening and out of sight usually (as not to get too distracted) so when I get to bed I read my messages and forget by the morning after a nights sleep. Sorry if I owe anyone a reply, I’m not intentionally ignoring you I promise!

How do you use your mobile phone? Would you be lost without yours?
